The quality inspector has an opportunity to help create the quality culture within Harvard Bioscience. Living and breathing quality is part of our high level goal to drive business excellence. With a focus on operations, the quality inspector will perform incoming inspection for the company, including electrical, mechanical, or chemical testing of materials against design specifications. This individual will contribute to new product introductions, process or supplier changes by providing inspection support for development projects for specific tasks (First Article, Engineering Testing, and Component Characterization). The quality inspector will assist the manufacturing team in the troubleshooting of quality issues experienced on the production line, assisting in improving first pass yield, rework, scrap and other related metrics. The quality inspector will assist in maintaining calibration for all machines, tools, etc. as part of the production system.
Essential Job Functions
skills and abilities required
Experienced in the use of incoming inspection equipment (calipers, height gages, pins)
Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings and electrical component specifications.
Basic mathematical skills
Microsoft Office Suite and good computer literacy
Analytical skills, ideally in Excel, SQL, PowerBI or other
Bonus skills and experience
Experience ISO 9001 auditing
Experience with basic statistical techniques including sampling plans
ASQ Certified Quality Technician
Education and Experience and/or equivalent
HS Diploma/ Technical degree preferred 5+ years experience
