Job Description

Determine product conformity to customer specification through independent inspection and tests in accordance with the Project Quality Plan. Identify non-conformity for rectification and assure final resolution. Perform field inspection of fitting and welding in accordance with project specification and scope as noted in the ITP. Review and familiarize with Project AFC drawing, NDT drawing, ITP, Work Instruction and Project specification relating to assigned project. Execute the inspection and Quality Control activities on site, collecting the relevant objectives proofs, ensuring monitoring and coordination of quality control activities on electrical and instrument equipment/system construction, installation and mechanical completion activities. Conducting business & performing duties in accordance to McDermott’s " Code of Business Conduct" and any other governing of the company.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Appraise product quality in accordance with the Project Quality Plan and Inspection & Test Plan and determine conformity and non-conformity. All inspection results need to be documented and if non-conformity exists, documentation shall be raised to establish corrective action
  • Co-ordinate with Operations, Production Supervisor, Client, Job Sharing personnel and subcontractor assuring conformity to project requirements
  • Perform field inspections of fit up, welding, painting, electrical, instrumentation, telecommunication and equipment’s in accordance with project requirements and scope of work as noted within the Project Quality Plan / Inspection Test Plan
  • Proactive approach in prevention of a nonconformance by interaction with respective departments
  • Conduct internal audits to assess the effectiveness of Quality System outlined in Project Quality Plan / Inspection Test Plan
  • Conduct surveillance audit during execution of the project as per applicable procedures and plans
  • Perform surveillance checks on welding and painting consumable storage and handling
  • Perform surveillance checks on material storage and preservation
  • Ensure progressive completion of inspection reports and certification packages
  • Read and understand the Inspection and Test Plan (ITP)
  • Read and understand drawing (Description, Rev, BOM, NDT, PWHT,)
  • Patrol inspection and ensure at lay down areas segregated / stainless steel & carbon steel
  • Ensure welder qualification (Welder register)
  • Ensure procedure qualification (WPS register)
  • Verify correct materials to be weld (Material traceability-MCR compare to BOM)
  • Ensure correct equipment (Validation of welding machines)
  • Ensure correct consumables and WPS numbers
  • Random check electrodes / flux oven calibration record at electrodes stores
  • Check fit up prior to weld (Root gap, face, alignment, bevel angle, included angle, materials)
  • Checks preheat temperature based on approved WPS prior to welding
  • Ensure tacking and welding carried out as per approved WPS
  • Receiving and reviewed CIR (Computerize Inspection Request) prior submit to others section
  • Request for PWHT, PMI and performed Hardness/Ferrites test if necessary
  • Follow up and monitor repair if any
  • Follow up daily NDT result then release spools / items for painting or erection
  • When assigned to Craft training Centre (Welding School), perform duties as per QP-27
  • Visit PCM to review and sign off visual reports
  • Filling all related inspection documents in respective areas for back up purpose
  • When assigned to Craft Training Centre (Welding School), perform duties as per QP-027
  • Verifies approved WPS, Welders and tacker intended to the project have properly been qualified
  • High standard of safe working practice, quality and productivity as well as compliance with the code of business conduct

Essential Qualifications and Education:

  • 5+ years Quality control or related experience in Weld, Paint, Material Electrical, Instrumentation, Telecommunication and Equipment Inspection
  • Min 3-year diploma degree in Mechanical / Electrical / Instrumentation
