The Quality Engineering Technician will primarily provide support for Incoming Inspection, Calibration, engineering development activities, and support for manufacturing activities. A successful candidate will have proficiency in the use of inspection equipment, comparators, precision gauges, and hand tools. Have an understanding and skills in effectively applying Six-Sigma tools to benefit the organization and customers. This is a hands-on technician position. The individual can expect to spend their time providing technical assistance with inspection equipment, defective material disposition, Inspection Instructions, Process Audits, and development and execution of data reports on the results of quality inspections. The Engineering Technician works closely with members of Incoming Inspection, Calibration, Quality Engineering, and Manufacturing Engineering team.
Responsibilities and Tasks:
• Review and disposition night vision components
• Training members of quality
• Use engineering drawings to construct and modify Inspection Instructions.
• Compile, compute, analyze, and present a variety of Inspection data as required.
• Review documentation for completeness, accuracy, adequacy, and compliance with company and customer requirements.
• Support qualification, verifications, and validation testing as required.
• Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications:
• Associate degree; preferable in an Engineering field (Mechanical, Electrical, mechatronics, etc.) or 2-4 years of equivalent experience.
• 1+ years of technical experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency with various inspection tools and equipment
• Strong analytical abilities and troubleshooting techniques
• Ability to understand mechanical drawings
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• PC proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook.
• Ability to work effectively within a team
• Good interpersonal and organizational skills
• Experience training others
• Ability to obtain and maintain U.S. government Security Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with inspection of optical/mechanical assemblies
• Understanding of statistical process controls (SPC) principles
• Experience reading electronic schematics and conducting PC board inspections
• Experience with MS Access queries
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
• Knowledge of quality control methodologies and procedures
• Six Sigma certification
• Experience in Metrology specific to calibration and instrumentation
