POSITION SUMMARY:

The Engineering Intern role will have the opportunity to learn and apply your engineering knowledge in a real-world setting. This internship is designed to provide practical experience in various aspects of engineering while contributing to our innovative manufacturing, production, and company projects.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS – (based on area of assignment)

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to assist in the planning, design, and execution of projects. This may include research, data analysis, and hands-on tasks.
  • Provide technical support to engineers and other team members. This may involve troubleshooting, testing, and maintenance of equipment or systems.
  • Maintain accurate records, documentation, and reports related to engineering activities. This includes project logs, test results, and design specifications.
  • Conduct research on relevant engineering topics and industry trends. Analyze data and propose recommendations based on findings.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including design, manufacturing, and quality control, to ensure project success and alignment with company goals.
  • Adhere to all safety guidelines and protocols in the workplace to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Take advantage of learning opportunities, mentorship, and networking within the organization to enhance your engineering skills and knowledge.
  • Demonstrate regular attendance and timeliness in reporting to work, meetings, and completing assignments.
  • Ability to work and interact well with others.

Industrial/Mechanical:

  • Responsible for ensuring accurate maintenance of Routing and Bills of Material files on corporate manufacturing data management system.
  • Develops procedures and provides training on new processes, tools and equipment, including developing and designing workplace layout and methods.
  • Evaluates need, analyzes options, develops plan, develops Appropriation Request (AR) and manages implementation of project until completed within the allotted time frame.
  • Assists support personnel in less complex technical matters as needed.
  • Develops, installs and maintains optimum processes for the safe manufacture of quality product in a productive manner.

Product:

  • Coordinate creation of product and technical drawings as requested by customers and/or sales.
  • Identify and distribute appropriate installation instructions for customer/sales requests and to support product management.
  • Provide product technical information support (load capacities, dimensional details, product cube/weight, etc.) as appropriate to sales and customers.
  • Responsible for new color/finish creation including color match, vendor interaction, and developing appropriate pricing tier.

Quality:

  • Collects data and analyzes trends to resolve customer problems and drive continuous improvement projects.
  • Conducts quality system audits to ensure consistency in processes and procedures.
  • Assists other departments and team members with quality related questions, issues, documentation and training requests for production employees.
  • Collaborates with multiple departments and individuals regarding resolution of quality problems.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Current enrollment or recent graduate in a related Bachelor degree program.

Experience: No previous experience required.

Required Skills

  • Strong academic record with coursework in relevant engineering disciplines.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
  • High sense of urgency.
  • Eagerness to take initiative and work on challenging technical projects.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Basic technical knowledge and the ability to learn and adapt quickly.
  • Basic math and computer skills.
  • Proficiency in engineering software and tools.

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of Maynard Operation Sequence Technique (MOST) or similar measurement system.
  • General knowledge of standard manufacturing processes.
  • Welding knowledge.
  • 2D or 3D modeling experience.
  • Ability to use measuring tools: calipers, micrometers, tape measure and various electronic meters.

SPECIAL DEMANDS

  • Some travel may be required depending on assignment.
  • May support customer visits, sample/prototype set ups, and training.
