About the Team

Our team designs and delivers B2C Omnichannel Order Execution processes on SAP, integrated with external commerce platforms through an event-driven architecture (EDA).

The solution is built around a Solace message broker, which hosts the Canonical Data Model (CDM), and an SAP Cloud Platform Integration (CPI) layer that translates and orchestrates data flows between SAP and external systems.

We are looking for a Quality Engineer to design and own the test automation framework for our integration landscape. The objective is to maximize automated test coverage, minimize manual testing, and ensure the reliability of CPI mappings and integrations as they evolve.

This is a hands-on role with significant ownership, as the test automation capability will be built from the ground up.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain an automated testing framework for the SAP CPI integration layer.
  • Validate that CPI mappings correctly implement Canonical Data Model (CDM) contracts and continue to function as expected as changes are introduced.
  • Develop automated regression and coverage tests to ensure integration quality.
  • Consume and validate Async APIs published through Kong for Solace pub/sub interfaces.
  • Build and maintain automated API tests using Insomnia and integrate them into GitLab-based CI/CD pipelines.
  • Collaborate with the Test Automation Factory (TAF) team to align integration-layer and backend SAP testing efforts and avoid duplication.
  • Define and execute end-to-end testing strategies, plans, and test scenarios across the integration landscape.
  • Work iteratively in Agile environments, delivering early prototypes and continuously improving test automation practices.
  • Help define quality standards and testing best practices for the Omnichannel Order Execution platform.

Required Experience

Technical & Functional Skills

  • Strong understanding of test automation principles, including coverage, maintainability, and regression testing.
  • Experience with API testing and automation tools such as Insomnia, Postman, or similar solutions.
  • Familiarity with API management platforms such as Kong and Async API specifications.
  • Understanding of event-driven architectures and messaging platforms such as Solace, Kafka, RabbitMQ, or IBM MQ.
  • Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and Git-based development workflows (GitLab, GitHub, etc.).
  • Exposure to SAP testing tools (e.g., Tosca) is advantageous.
  • Functional knowledge of B2C sales processes is desirable, particularly in areas such as payments, order fulfillment, logistics, delivery, and invoicing.

Working Style & Soft Skills

  • Self-motivated and able to independently translate high-level quality objectives into actionable test strategies and execution plans.
  • Comfortable working in Agile environments with iterative delivery and rapid prototyping.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate ambiguity and evolving requirements.
  • Effective communicator with the ability to collaborate across engineering, testing, and SAP teams.
  • Structured and methodical approach to quality assurance and continuous improvement.

Education

No specific degree is required. However, candidates should demonstrate strong logical and technical reasoning abilities. A scientific or technical background is preferred, though equivalent experience gained through professional work, self-directed learning, or personal projects will also be valued.
