Job Description

Quality Engineer II

Location: Chaska, MN (On-site)
Employment Type: Full-Time
Compensation: $87,500 – $115,000/year + quarterly bonus

Our client is a leading aerospace and defense manufacturer seeking a Quality Engineer II to support program quality initiatives and monitor quality performance across supply chain, development, and production operations. This role leads root cause analysis and corrective action activities, drives continuous improvement, and presents results directly to customers and senior management in support of program Quality and Delivery goals.

This is a great fit for a quality-minded engineer who enjoys cross-functional problem-solving and wants ownership over quality outcomes on real aerospace/defense programs — new grads with the right technical foundation are welcome to apply.

What You'll Do

  • Develop procedures from industry and aerospace specifications
  • Investigate, assess, and resolve production problems in a team environment
  • Serve as the Quality representative for assigned programs/customers
  • Review engineering drawings for flowdowns and best practices
  • Review and approve component First Article Inspections (FAI); coordinate customer FAI completion
  • Support in-process product reviews and acceptance data package preparation/review
  • Support customer and internal audits
  • Lead corrective action activities, including responses to customer inquiries and warranty support
  • Develop risk analysis and mitigation plans internally and externally
  • Promote use of quality tools — SPC, PFMEA, MSA — to reduce process variability
  • Participate in cost reduction initiatives related to scrap, rework, and repair
  • Train and guide internal personnel and suppliers on Corrective Action Requests (including SCARs), Quality System requirements, Quality Alerts, CAPA implementation, and root cause analysis
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships across Business Development, Engineering, Operations, and Customer Service

What You Bring

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field
  • 4+ years of experience in a quality-related role preferred (new college graduates encouraged to apply)
  • Ability to interpret military, commercial aircraft, and space-level specifications and standards
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics and technical drawings
  • Familiarity with Quality Management Systems — AS9100, ISO 9001, ISO/TS16949
  • Knowledge of special processes: critical finishes, chemical conversion, soldering, crimping, and non-destructive/destructive testing methods
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for cross-functional and external stakeholder interaction
  • Strong computer literacy, including MS Office

Nice to Have

  • Experience in data analysis and technical procedure writing

Work Environment

  • Split between professional office and manufacturing/machine shop environments
  • Standard vision screening required, including color vision
  • Up to 10% travel
  • Some overtime/weekend work required as job duties demand

Benefits

Competitive salary plus quarterly bonus, medical/dental/vision, life and disability insurance, 401(k) with company match, generous tuition assistance, paid vacation/sick/personal time, paid holidays, and flexible/compressed work week options.
