The Role

The Quality Engineer is responsible for supporting and maintaining the effectiveness of the quality management system, ensuring that product is manufactured and released in conformance with customer, regulatory, and internal requirements. This role leads root cause analysis and corrective action for internal and customer quality issues, applies core quality tools to control and improve process performance, and partners with production, engineering, and supply chain to reduce defects and the cost of poor quality. The Quality Engineer has the authority to stop any process or the delivery of parts that affect product integrity or the company's reputation for product delivery.

This position will report to the Quality Manager.

This role is located on-site at the MRG facility in Foxborough, Massachusetts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the execution of the quality management system at the site, ensuring quality processes are carried out effectively and that improvement opportunities across product, process, and operations are identified.
  • Develop and implement inspection methods and control plans to verify that product is released according to customer requirements.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective and preventive action for internal and customer quality issues using 8D, 5-Why, Ishikawa, and cause and effect tools.
  • Support APQP activities and prepare PPAP submissions, including process flow diagrams, PFMEA, and control plans.
  • Perform capability studies, statistical process control analysis, and measurement system analysis to monitor and improve process performance.
  • Support quality containment activities such as CSL1, CSL2, CPC, GP-12, QRQS, and FTQ, and verify their effectiveness.
  • Track and report quality KPIs, analyze data for trends, and develop action plans for processes performing outside of target.
  • Develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives that reduce scrap, rework, and the cost of poor quality.
  • Ensure conformance to ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 regulatory and legal requirements within assigned areas.
  • Conduct internal audits, document findings, and follow corrective actions through to closure.
  • Support customer, registrar, and third-party audits by preparing documentation and responding to findings in a timely manner.
  • Review Return Material Authorizations (RMAs) with MRB members and identify the root cause of reported defects.
  • customers at a senior and executive level to strengthen strategic relationships.
  • Maintain quality documentation, including work instructions, inspection criteria, and monitoring, measurement, and testing records.
  • Provide quality training and coaching to production operators, inspectors, and cross-functional team members.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience & Skills

  • Bachelor's in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 years of quality engineering experience in a process-oriented, high volume manufacturing environment.
  • Wire and cable, wire harness fabrication, or closely related industry experience is highly preferred.
  • Core tools knowledge (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, MSA) and experience with product and process release procedures.
  • Knowledge of quality systems requirements (ISO 9001 / IATF 16949); ISO 13485 and medical device experience is a plus.
  • Demonstrated use of problem-solving techniques (8D, 5-Why, Ishikawa, cause and effect diagrams, Red X, DOE) as an internal facilitator of root cause analysis.
  • Ability to perform internal audits defined by the organization; internal auditor certification is desirable.
  • Ability to reconcile and interpret quality data, including use of Minitab or equivalent statistical software.
  • Excellent organizational, project, and time management skills, with strong interpersonal communication at all levels.
  • Lean or Six Sigma certification is desirable; bilingual (English/Spanish) desirable.
  • Ability to travel as needed to customer and supplier locations, including Mexico locations.
