Quality Engineer (QE)

Position Overview
We are seeking a qualified Quality Engineer (QE) to support manufacturing quality, process improvement, problem solving, and continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of quality systems, manufacturing processes, engineering specifications, statistical methods, and industry-standard quality tools.
This position will work closely with production and process teams to monitor performance, identify quality issues, implement corrective actions, and support ongoing improvements in product and process quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Support quality assurance and quality improvement activities throughout the manufacturing process.
- Monitor production processes and identify opportunities for quality and process improvements.
- Investigate quality issues and assist with root-cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions.
- Apply statistical methods and quality tools to analyze process and product performance.
- Read, interpret, and apply engineering drawings, specifications, and related technical documentation.
- Use precision measurement and metrology equipment to accurately inspect and evaluate products and processes.
- Work closely with production operators and other departments to identify and resolve quality concerns.
- Support compliance with applicable quality management systems and industry standards.
- Apply recognized quality toolsets and problem-solving methodologies.
- Assist with continuous improvement and process optimization initiatives.
- Maintain accurate quality records, reports, measurements, and documentation.
- Communicate quality findings, recommendations, and corrective actions effectively to appropriate personnel.
- Work on the manufacturing floor to monitor process performance and support production teams.
- Perform other quality-related duties as assigned.
Required Skills
- Intermediate PC skills, including spreadsheets, word processing, and databases.
- Working knowledge of statistics and statistical methods used in quality functions.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Proficiency with quality tools used for problem solving and quality improvement.
- Working knowledge of production processes, welding processes, and material properties.
- Knowledge of welding.
- Knowledge of robotics and robotic manufacturing processes.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Working knowledge of IATF, AS, or ISO quality management systems.
- Working knowledge and demonstrated application of AIAG or ASQ industry-standard quality toolsets.
- Ability to accurately measure using precision metrology tools.
- Ability to analyze problems, identify root causes, and support effective corrective actions.
- Ability to work effectively with production and cross-functional teams.
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
- Company product and application knowledge.
- Applicable American Society for Quality (ASQ) certification.
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
- Additional experience with manufacturing quality, process improvement, or quality management systems.
Special Demands
- Ability to navigate the manufacturing floor regularly to work with process operators and monitor process performance.
- Manual dexterity and visual acuity required for using gauges, measuring instruments, and other inspection equipment.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment and interact directly with production processes and personnel.
