Corning's Manufacturing, Technology and Engineering division (MTE) is recognized as the leader in engineering excellence & innovative manufacturing technologies by providing diverse skills to Corning’s existing & emerging businesses.

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Build up and/or implement appropriate quality management/control system on CM site or Corning new plant during early stage of product/process development. Lead/attend audit to monitor and maintain effective quality system.
  • Lead to establish build-in quality in new product/process project. Coach existing manufacturing and to build-in quality (PQA) on the journey of total quality.
  • Work with product engineering function to define product qualification specification for new products be transferred to new sites.
  • Provides leadership in problem solving, and technical expertise, to ensure timely resolution of process issues, and higher level troubleshooting.
  • Use of statistical data analysis and DOE in process problem solving and process/product improvement.
  • Improving manufacturing capability by identifying and eliminating root cause(s) of variability.
  • Evaluating measurement systems to improve quality and/or reduce inspection costs.
  • Work on joint teams with production, technology, plant/division engineering to improve yield, throughput, and cycle time and process uptime etc.
  • Transfer technology to divisions and manufacturing plants with full implementation of training and documentation systems (Standard Operation Procedures, Process Set-points and Training etc.)
  • Work with research & development teams for new processes and product development and introductions.

Education & Experience

  • B.S. degree or above in engineering, or science, math, statistics.
  • At least three years related experience, especially on quality management system.

Required Skills

  • Knowledge of quality management system, ISO9000 or IATF (TS) 16949 or relevant.
  • Knowledge of process control/process discipline, SPC, DOE, Statistics, DMAIC, Taguchi and Total Quality methods.
  • Ability to organize, collaborate team activities.
  • Ability to influence diverse technical teams
  • Ability to present data and analysis in both verbal and written/graphical form that broad audiences can understand
  • Proficient in English. Good written and oral skills are essential.

Desired Skills

  • Six Sigma DMAIC Green Belt or Black Belt certified.
  • Very strong communication skills with ability to concisely communicate key issues and concepts to people at a variety of levels (from high levels of management to line operators working in the factory floor)

Soft Skills

  • Project management skill.
