Job Description

The Level 1 Quality Engineer supports the implementation and maintenance of quality systems and processes for the Small Modular Reactor (SMR) project. This role is essential to ensuring compliance with internal standards, project specifications and applicable industry codes and regulations. The Level 1 Quality Engineer will work closely with the Quality Manager, SMR Project Teams, Engineers, project managers and suppliers. The Quality Engineer may be assigned additional QA responsibilities as needed to support the goals of the SMR team. This position reports directly to the SMR Quality Manager.

Location: Camden, NJ (On‑site) – Relocation Assistance Available!

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development and tracking of key quality metrics and reporting to management.
  • Review purchase orders and incoming material certifications for compliance with specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in internal and external audits, surveys and surveillances.
  • Review of quality records to verify acceptability and compliance.
  • Support nonconformance investigations and corrective/preventive action processes.
  • Collaborate with production and engineering teams to resolve quality issues and improve processes.
  • Assist in training personnel on quality processes.
  • Perform oversight at vendor facilities and SMR construction activities.

Requirements:

  • BS degree in Engineering, preferred in Mechanical, Electrical Civil/Struct. or Industrial Engineering,
  • or AS degree with one year of quality assurance related work,
  • or a high school diploma plus three (3) years of quality assurance related work.
  • Familiarity with industry codes and standards such as ISO 9001, NQA-1, 10CFR 50 App. B, 10CFR21, and ASME Section III & Section VIII,.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to travel Domestically and Internationally.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Previous commercial Nuclear Power Plant operating experience.
  • Previous commercial Nuclear Power Plant construction experience.
  • Training or familiarity in corrective action processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and quality management software.
  • Experience with programmatic controls and detailed procedures.
  • Knowledge of Non-Destructive Examination Methods (e.g., VT, PT, MT, UT, RT, etc.)
  • Knowledge of M&TE and inspection/testing processes.

  • Annual compensation based on skills and experience ranging from $75,000 to $90,000
