Quality Engineer

As a Quality Engineer, you will drive a systems approach into critical quality processes, consistent with the expectations of customers in various markets, while ensuring compliance to industry standards and regulations i.e., ISO 9001:2015 and AS9100D. You will partner with Operations, Sales, Business Development and Process Engineering on production preparation, customer requirement review, process development, validation, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and continuous improvement to ensure the highest level of quality for new and existing products. Additionally, you will be expected to utilize key performance metrics to monitor, identify and drive opportunities for improvement at both a product and process level as you engage with the broad spectrum of quality and production operations.

The Quality Engineer will lead the implementation and maintenance of all quality system requirements including First Article Inspections, PPAP, customer concerns, process control plans, and customer specific requirements. The Quality Engineer must be a self-motivated individual with strong communication skills who thrives in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities Quality Engineer

  • Lead projects and problem-solving activities (e.g., 8D, 5 Why, Ishikawa) to resolve customer complaints, internal nonconformances, and audit findings in a timely manner that ensures mitigation of reoccurrence.
  • Conduct trend analysis, execute and drive analytical problem solving, recommend and implement corrective actions and perform or lead root cause failure analysis using TGC’s preferred tools.
  • Establish and implement quality plans for new and existing products, including risk management, quality control, and quality assurance activities. This is including but not limited to: inspection plans and process control plans to include capability studies, measurement system analysis, and gage repeatability and reproducibility (Gage R&R) studies.
  • Provide quality related documents to the manufacturing floor, including control plans, control cards, visual aids, graphical instructions, and work instructions.
  • Monitor production processes for conformance to control plans and customer requirements which includes fit, function, reliability, durability, and reappearance criteria.
  • Other Duties as assigned

Requirements

Qualifications Qualifications Quality Engineer

  • Strong computer skills especially with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point
  • Prior experience with data entry and report analysis in an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings including GD&T
  • Ability to develop statistical process control and data analysis methods
  • Strong math skills related to reading and converting technical drawings
  • Ability to communicate expectations and instructions to all levels of the organization
  • Desire to identify root cause, develop creative solutions to problems and continuously improve systems and processes.

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S./B.A.) or equivalent from a college or university in Engineering; and a minimum of 3-5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience with an emphasis in a Quality-related role.
  • ASQ CQE – Certified Quality Engineer

Work Environment Quality Engineer

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands to handle and feel, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear. The employee may occasionally be required to crouch.
  • The employee may occasionally lift items as heavy as 25lbs.
  • Specific vision abilities may include the employee’s ability to see near and far distances.
