Position: Quality Engineer

Location Makati City, Manila

About the Role

We are seeking a Quality Engineer to join our Apex Invest team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality front-end applications and enterprise systems that support our financial services operations. You will work closely with developers, business analysts, and stakeholders to validate functionality, maintain testing frameworks, and promote best practices across the software development lifecycle.

This position requires a balance of hands-on testing, automation expertise, and collaboration You will contribute to both manual and automated testing efforts, ensuring that enhancements, fixes, and new features meet business requirements and deliver a seamless user experience. The role is ideal for someone who enjoys problem-solving, has a keen eye for detail, and is passionate about improving software quality in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute functional, regression, and parallel testing of product enhancements, fixes, and strategic projects, ensuring full coverage of requirements and design.
  • Perform manual and automated regression testing for planned upgrade releases (major and minor versions).
  • Develop and maintain test automation suites using frameworks such as Cypress, Playwright, and Selenium
  • Provide feedback on business requirements and technical design documents for new developments.
  • Deliver ad-hoc support and consultancy to internal and external clients.
  • Contribute to the testing framework and promote automation-first practices while balancing manual validation.
  • Ensure data integrity and security validation across systems.
  • Participate in code reviews and collaborate with developers to improve testability and maintainability.
  • Mentor junior testers and promote best-practice testing standards.
  • Support performance and penetration testing initiatives (e.g., JMeter, K6, Burp Suite, Nmap).

Required Skills

  • Passion for software development and strong interest in the Financial Services industry
  • 10+ years of experience in a test analyst or QE role
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and numerical analysis skills.
  • Reputable tertiary qualifications.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and stakeholder engagement ability.
  • Experience with test automation frameworks (Cypress, Playwright, Selenium).
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools (Azure DevOps, YAML pipelines, Git).
  • Experience with API testing tools (Postman).
  • Ability to work effectively in a multi-region team and global client base.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours when urgent issues arise.

Desirable Skills

  • Fund administration or securities markets experience.
  • ISTQB Foundation Certificate in Software Testing.
  • Professional Accounting qualification.
  • Knowledge of file transfer mechanisms and API testing
  • Exposure to performance and penetration testing (JMeter, K6, Burp Suite, Nmap).
  • Experience with containerization and infrastructure tools ( Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform).
