The Quality Engineer for the Tucson facility is a key member of the Quality team. The Quality Engineer position will support the Quality Manager in product realization planning, compliance to customer requirements, risk management, and sub-contractor quality. This individual will manage various procedures, manage small projects, and participate in cross-functional teams. A critical responsibility is managing and facilitating required activities between Operations, Purchasing, Engineering, Sales, Marketing, Vendors, Customers and Quality for the assigned business areas. Responsibilities may include customer support including visits to end-customers and sub-contract vendors, participation in audits, and support of specific projects and products
Support continuation and growth of the quality management system. Ensure all parts of the applicable standard, processes, and customer expectations are embedded within the site procedures. Lead functions such as internal audits, instrument calibration, corrective actions, and more.
Lead various teams to reduce/resolve customer complaints, customer audit findings, internal rejections, etc. in a timely manner and ensure identified root cause/corrective and preventative actions are effective to prevent reoccurrence.
Maintain a consistent level of direct contact with the customer to ensure a positive relationship and respond quickly to concerns or questions.
Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for the site directly related to the quality management system. Work with various departments to implement and modify procedures, work instructions, training matrices, forms, etc. where necessary.
Support new qualification and new product trials to ensure all aspects of the quality management system are being considered and covered.
Education Required:
Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, chemistry, materials science, ceramics, or other technical degree from an accredited College or University.
Preferred:
Material science degree preferred.
Experience Required:
3 to 5 years’ experience in an engineering position
Working knowledge of ISO9001 or AS9100 quality systems
Familiar with FMEAs and control plans
Preferred:
Experience in Quality within a manufacturing company.
Direct involvement in ISO9001 or AS9100 audits
Experience using SAP and Minitab a plus.

Ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve to find root causes.

Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment.
Must possess a strong understanding of change management concepts and a history of successful application of change management.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, etc.) required.
