Job Description

Position Overview
Hollingsworth is launching a new wheel and tire repackaging facility in Mishawaka, IN, and we are seeking a Quality Engineer to support quality systems, customer requirements, and continuous improvement efforts.
In this role, you will partner with operations, engineering, and customers to identify, contain, and resolve quality issues while improving processes and ensuring product integrity. You’ll play a key role in supporting repackaging operations, reducing defects, and enhancing customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
Quality Issue Resolution
• Lead root cause analysis using tools such as 5 Why, 8D, Pareto, and fishbone
• Manage customer complaints, containment actions, and corrective action submissions
• Support inspection and validation of incoming and repackaged wheel and tire products
• Oversee non-conforming material processes (quarantine, hold cage, disposition)
• Track and analyze defects related to packaging, labeling, and handling

Process Improvement
• Analyze quality data to identify trends and improvement opportunities
• Partner with operations to improve repackaging workflows and handling standards
• Support scrap reduction and defect prevention initiatives
• Develop and update work instructions and quality procedures
• Drive continuous improvement (CI) activities

Customer & Supplier Support
• Act as a point of contact for customer quality concerns
• Support PPAP activities and documentation requirements
• Interface with customers and suppliers to resolve quality issues
• Monitor customer portals and ensure timely responses

Quality Systems & Compliance
• Support compliance with customer and quality standards (ISO 9001 / IATF as applicable)
• Participate in internal and external audits
• Maintain quality documentation (control plans, PFMEA, process flows)
• Support training and ensure adherence to quality processes

Reporting & Metrics
• Monitor and report key quality KPIs (defects, scrap, returns, rework)
• Maintain and analyze daily quality data
• Provide updates on corrective actions and open issues
• Support calibration tracking and measurement systems

Qualifications
• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 2+ years of experience in quality, manufacturing, or distribution environment
• Experience with root cause analysis and corrective action methods (8D, 5 Why, etc.)
• Familiarity with automotive quality standards preferred (PPAP, IMDS, APQP)
• Strong problem-solving and data analysis skills
• Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment

Work Environment
• Warehouse and repackaging facility environment
• Frequent standing, walking, and interaction with operations
• Occasional lifting (up to 50 lbs.)
• Required use of PPE and Steel Toe shoes/boots in operational areas

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with wheel/tire handling or automotive logistics
• Background in high-volume distribution or repackaging operations
• Exposure to Lean or Six Sigma methodologies
