Job Description

Hartzell Propeller is looking for a Quality Engineer who will be responsible for supporting and improving the quality management system (QMS), driving corrective/preventive actions, performing root cause analysis, leading internal audits, training workforce, and ensuring compliance with regulatory, customer, and company quality standards. This role partners closely with operations, engineering, and leadership to ensure that products and services meet the highest levels of safety, reliability, and quality.

Key Deliverables of the Position:

1) Monitor, analyze, and improve product quality through inspections, testing, and data review.

2) Conduct root cause analysis and lead corrective and preventive action (CAPA) activities.

3) Support and maintain compliance with FAA, OEM, AS9100, and internal quality standards.

4) Develop, update, and implement quality procedures, work instructions, and process controls.

5) Lead internal audits and support external audits from regulatory bodies or customers.

6) Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve workflows, eliminate waste, and enhance quality performance.

7) Become cross trained in all Quality Assurance Engineering functions at Hartzell Propeller.

8) Be familiar and understand the fundamentals of gage calibration.

9) Perform other duties as assigned by the department.

4) Leads and completes root cause analysis and CAPA initiatives that result in measurable improvements to process performance or reduction in recurring issues.

6) Effectively manages time and priorities to support production requirements without quality escapes.

7) Develop key traits that include proactivity, resilience in overcoming obstacles, confidence, and a passion for exceeding goals without constant oversight.

Requirements

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, quality, or related technical field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
• Prior experience in manufacturing or aerospace is strongly preferred.

Technical Competencies

1) Quality Tools & Methods – Ability to apply root cause analysis, CAPA, FMEA, SPC, and other quality methodologies.

2) Technical/Mechanical Understanding – Demonstrated ability to understand technical drawings, specifications, and mechanical systems.

3) Interpretation of Standards – Experience working with AS9100, ISO 9001, FAA regulations, or similar industry standards.

4) Computer Skills – Proficiency with quality systems software, Microsoft Office, including Access, and data tracking tools.
