RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists in developing, documenting, and implementing IATF 16949 / ISO 9001 quality systems such as PFMEAs, Control Plans, etc.
  • Conduct IATF 16949 internal audits and develop appropriate action items.
  • Lead and facilitate corrective action, cross functional, problem solving teams using root cause analysis and using tools such as 5Why, Ishikawa, DMAIC, and 8D
  • Manage scrap reduction and process capability improvement studies with necessary project management tools (i.e. Gantt Charts, project charters, scope and timeline)
  • Communicate and coordinate response to internal and external QA Issues with suppliers, customers, management, and production personnel and provide appropriate follow-up.
  • Train personnel on new QA plans and work instructions as well as statistical and problem solving techniques
  • Maintain knowledge of inspection tools and gauges, including providing assistance with gauge calibration and Gauge R&R/capability studies.
  • Maintain personal computer and data collection equipment within area of responsibility
  • Knowledge of the AIAG PPAP submittals – 18 elements
  • Lead with a quality mindset of defect free product to the customer

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or similar degree or equivalent knowledge in quality assurance.

PREFERRED: Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) through ASQ and/or Certified IATF16949/ISO 9001 Auditor

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • 2 years of experience in quality control, manufacturing engineering, process control, or engineering capacity
  • 2 years of experience in automotive stamping
  • Industrial or automotive experience (tier 1 or OEM experience)
  • Understanding of quality processes such as APQP, FMEA, SPC, MSA and PPAP
  • Process improvement in reducing scrap and defects
  • Working with internal and external customers
  • Excellent interpersonal relationship skills
  • Union shop experience preferred
  • Familiarity with customer portals such as Ford, Stellantis, Tesla, and etc.
