About the Job – Quality Engineer
JTEKT North America is a global leader in engineering and manufacturing automotive systems, bearing solutions, and high performance machine tools. Our Vonore, Tennessee location is seeking a driven Quality Engineer ready to ensure product excellence, strengthen customer satisfaction, and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement. In this role, you will act as the voice of the customer, support root cause analysis, drive corrective actions, and collaborate closely with production, suppliers, and cross functional teams. You’ll support new launches, conduct audits, analyze quality data, and help maintain strong quality, health, safety, and environmental systems.
Purpose
Ensure part quality by addressing end user, customer, internal, or supplier concerns.
Essential Duties and Accountabilities
• Support activities maintaining the quality of products within the production process.
• Act as the voice of the customer to JTEKT departments.
• Analyze for root cause and verify corrective action effectiveness for internal and external nonconformances.
• Develop and conduct audits on systems or products.
• Support launch activities for new or revised products.
• Contribute to quality, health, safety, and environmental maintenance.
• Support other JTEKT facilities and travel as required.
• Work daily overtime and weekends as required to complete essential job duties.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with customers, suppliers, and all levels of the JTEKT organization.
• Self motivated and able to work without close supervision.
• Strong statistical and analytical skills.
• Experience in tight tolerance machining and assembly manufacturing.
• Experience using gages such as micrometers and calipers.
• Ability to travel as required.
• Basic knowledge of applicable quality, health, safety, and environmental management systems.
Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Math, Physics, or related field.
• 5+ years of quality and/or engineering related experience in a manufacturing environment.
• ASQ and/or Six Sigma Certification preferred.
Work Environment / Physical Demands
• Sit with intermittent walking.
• Manual dexterity for duties such as stapling, collating, sorting, filing, typing, and writing.
• Communicate in person, by phone, or through VOIP.
• Visually read reports and computer screens.
• Maintain a minimum of 8 hours worked/day, 5 days/week.
