We're currently seeking a passionate and skilled Quality Engineer to join our team and contribute to our mission of delivering high-quality, engineered solutions to our customers worldwide. In this role you will be responsible for

pivotally centered on transitioning the facility from its current state to full AS9100 (Aerospace) certification. You will be the primary architect of the Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring every precision-machined part meets the stringent safety and reliability standards required by the aerospace and defense sectors.

Responsibilities:

  • Gap Analysis & Roadmap: Conduct a comprehensive audit of existing processes against AS9100 requirements to identify deficiencies and create a strategic timeline for certification.
  • QMS Development: Author and implement the Quality Manual, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and work instructions tailored to CNC operations.
  • Risk Management: Integrate formal risk assessment processes (per AS9100 Rev D) into the production lifecycle, focusing on operational risk and product safety.
  • Configuration Management: Establish rigorous controls for part versions, revisions, and traceability—from raw material heat numbers to finished CNC components.
  • Audit Leadership: Lead the internal audit program and act as the primary point of contact for external registrars during the Stage 1 and Stage 2 certification audits.

CNC-Specific Quality Duties

  • Advanced Inspection: Develop AS9102-compliant First Article Inspection (FAI) reports for complex aerospace geometries.
  • Precision Metrology: Oversee CMM programming and calibration schedules for high-tolerance measurement tools used on the shop floor.
  • Non-Conformance & CAPA: Manage the "Red Tag" process for scrapped or reworked CNC parts, utilizing 8D or 5-Why analysis to eliminate recurring machining errors.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Industrial) or equivalent technical experience in a high-precision machine shop.
  • AS9100 Expertise: Deep functional knowledge of AS9100 Rev D standards; experience taking a facility through its initial certification is highly preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Mastery of GD&T (ASME Y14.5) and the ability to interpret complex aerospace blueprints.
  • Process Knowledge: Familiarity with CNC machining processes (milling, turning, Swiss-style) and specialized finishes (anodizing, heat treat).
  • Communication: Strong ability to train machinists and operators on the importance of aerospace quality culture and documentation.

This position is at our New Kensington, PA location.
