Quality Engineer- Data Engineering

Sysco LABS Sri Lanka delivers the technology that powers Sysco’s end-to-end operations. Sysco LABS’ enterprise technology is present in the end-to-end foodservice journey, enabling the sourcing of food products, merchandising, storage and warehouse operations, order placement and pricing algorithms, the delivery of food and supplies to Sysco’s global network and the in-restaurant dining experience of the end-customer. 

The Opportunity

We are currently on the lookout fora QualityEngineer–DataEngineeringto joinour team.

Responsibilities:

• Validatingdatasets, reports, and dashboards by comparing results with source systems

• RunningSQL queries to check data accuracy, data transformations, and business rule alignment

• Supportingtesting of ETL/ELT processes and analytics pipelines acrossdifferent stages

• Reportingdata issues, trackingdefects, and retestingfixes in collaboration with Data Engineers and BI teams

• Documentingsimple test scenarios, expected results, and validation checklists for dashboards and datasets

• Performingdata integrity checks, transformation validations, and basic aggregation verifications

• Followingdefined QE standards andmaintainingtesting information in Jira and Confluence

• Workingwith senior QEs to improve testing coverage and learningadvanced data validation techniques

Requirements:

• ABachelor’s Degreein IT, Software Engineering, Data Science, Computer Science, ora related field

• 0–2 years of experience in QA, Data Quality, BI, or Software Testing (fresh graduates with good Python and SQLknowledge are welcome)

• Basic SQL knowledge

• An understanding ofdata tables, relationships, and simple BI concepts

• Exposure to Python or interest in learning Python for test automation

• Familiarity with Agile processes and tools like Jira/Confluence is an advantage

• Good analytical thinking, attention to detail, and willingness to learn

• Strong communicationskills and the ability to collaborate with multiple teams

• Must have a passion for quality and continuous improvement

• Exposure todata engineering, ETL concepts, or BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, Looker)

• Experience with cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, or Azure)

• A basic understanding of KPIs, metrics, or business rule validation
