Job Title: Quality Development Engineer

Location: Wadsworth, OH (on-site)

Employment type: Full-time, Exempt (salary)

Pay: Starting pay based on experience and education level; range starts at $65,000

This position exists to drive operational excellence and systemic improvement throughout the organization by leading root cause problem solving initiatives of customer returned product, non-conforming material evaluation and disposition, production troubleshooting, and working with collaborative teams to drive organizational continuous improvement.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage non-conforming material procedure and internally generated QIM (Quality Issue Management) events resulting from non-conforming material
  • Support root cause investigation of assembly production issues resulting from customer, supplier or internal QIM events
  • Perform final and incoming inspection as required and work with inspectors to support inventory containment issues resulting from quality events; cover Rover Arm/CMM inspections as needed
  • Support gage calibration software
  • Perform internal audits to ISO 9001:2015 standard
  • Complete PPAP/FAIR/CoC events in QIM as required by new product deployment/Safe Launch process
  • Work with manufacturing and CI Engineering group to drive continuous improvement in assembly production processes
  • Manage and monitor reliability engineering by receiving warranty return data and writing a damage analysis report, be a liaison between the service manager and engineering, and providing input to the service manager relative to field service calls
  • Participate in reliability initiatives by initiating studies of product returned on service orders documenting service life, failure modes, and measurements of failed components to study impact of design specifications on product performance; and studying non-warranty failures as an input into root cause investigations of warranty concerns

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree in an applicable STEM field or ASQ CQE certification
  • Experience with basic metrology tools (calipers, micrometers, etc.) and advanced metrology tools (Bridge, Arm CMM’s) including GDT standards
  • Experience with the Internal Auditing processAbility to work in database systems (e.g. QIM, Windchill, and SAP)   
  • Proficient with MS Office software applications (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word)Strong math skills in geometry and statistics

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an applicable STEM field
  • Mechanical Engineering degree or similar ABET accredited program
  • Formal training in CMM software (PC DMIS, Polywork, Calypso)
  • Understanding of industrial standard Production Machinery and Processing techniques (casting, machining, forging, heat treat, and assembly)

This position may require access to United States export controlled technical data (“CTD”) and hardware under the Departments of US State (ITAR) and/or Commerce (EAR).
