About the Role

The GCT Quality Control lab team at Elk Mills 1 is looking for an energetic, flexible, organized, and high performing QC lab associate. This associate will have primary responsibility of routine testing for product release and process monitoring in a high-throughput QC Lab. This is a hands-on testing role requiring quick turnaround times while executing high-quality work. This associate will also be expected to troubleshoot laboratory instruments, drive quality system changes, and support projects that partner with new product development and engineering associates to develop and optimize test methods. The candidate must be able to multi-task, prioritize their activities in a rapidly paced environment, have strong communication skills, and be team oriented.

This position will be located at our facility in Elkton, Maryland.

Pay and Benefits:

  • $26 - $39per hour

Responsibilities

  • Routinely run QC sample analysis such as tensile & compression testing, rheology, viscosity, thermal analysis, chemical extractions, and titrations
  • Perform data collection and data entry following documented procedures
  • Perform instrument calibrations and partner with quality associates and engineers to carry out relevant corrective actions
  • Troubleshoot problems and perform routine maintenance on lab instrumentation
  • Partner with internal customers on characterization and/or validation projects
  • Support testing needs within the regional GCT QC Labs, as needed

Required Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in science, engineering, or related field AND a minimum of 3 years of laboratory experience
  • Ability to follow detailed written procedures
  • Problem solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to recommend and implement changes to existing test methods and procedures using a standardized process
  • Strong math skills appropriate to laboratory disciplines
  • Success working autonomously and in a team environment
  • Ability to learn and understand a variety of tests and laboratory instrumentation
  • Ability to set priorities in a rapidly paced environment
  • Knowledge of safe chemical handling and ability to follow established safety practices
  • Attention to detail with a proven ability to detect and minimize sources of variability in instrumentation and tests
  • Ability to travel up to 5%

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, or other laboratory science
  • Hands-on experience working with instrumentation/techniques such as mechanical testing (tensile and compression), rheology, viscosity, titrations, extractions, gas chromatography, and thermal techniques (TGA and DSC).
  • Experience working in a regulated industry utilizing Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and familiarity working within a Quality Management System (QMS), Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and/or Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS)
