Job Description

THE ROLE

The position: The Research & Development Quality Control Technician inspects actual production components selected at random for welding integrity, material strength, and design continuity, then creates reports of the observations using MS Office productivity software. The QC Technician efforts are to provide our Customers with the best truck-trailer products possible.

Responsibilities

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Prepares selected production specimens for destructive and nondestructive quality-control testing. This may include saw cutting, polishing, chemical etching, and photography.
  • Interprets the results and creates written documents using MS productivity software (Excel, Word, Outlook, Access).
  • Files the results for future reference, survey, and analysis.
  • Provides these reports to the Testing Manager.
  • Assists Test Engineers and Lab Technicians with both destructive and non-destructive testing of the product.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

YOUR SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS)

  • Education: High school diploma. Associate degree in technical field preferred or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience: Equivalent work experience.
  • Skills: Computer skills with MS Office software are a must.
    • Forklift driving experience.
    • Metal cutting with a Plasma-torch.
    • Metal cutting with a Horizontal Bandsaw.
    • Photography with a digital camera.
    • Must be able to lift 35 lbs 4 times daily.
    • Self-motivated, with Attention to Detail, with Neatness as a Key work ethic.
    • Capable of reading drawings, blueprints, and weld symbols.
    • Capable of using engineering measuring tools (measuring tape, micrometers, calipers).
    • Capable of using basic hand tools, band saws, and PPE.
    • Good working knowledge of MS Office productivity software.
    • Capable of accepting on-the-job training to keep up with product improvements.
    • Demonstrates a passion and a responsibility for timely, high quality work.
    • Desire to own decisions and take responsibility for outcomes.
  • Travel: Minimal to none.
