Quality Control Technician
Location: Sedalia, MO
Summary:
Quality Control Technician is responsible for all quality checks of equipment before departure of site.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform visual inspection of units to ensure proper welds, compliance with blueprints and work orders.
- Record discrepancies accurately.
- Chalk mark welds which require work.
- Perform visual inspection of paint and check mil thickness.
- Test all lights and air plumbing.
- Maintain a friendly working relationship between the Quality Control Department and all other departments and employees.
- Clean-up of areas and safety conscious.
- Capable of identifying poor structural welds.
- Capable of reading blueprint drawings for welds symbols, basic dimensioning of parts, and/or jigs & fixtures.
- Responsible for inspection of component parts fit and basic dimensioning within the basic product assembly.
- Responsible for detection, documentation, and notification of proper supervisors of improper operations, defective material, and questionable conditions and work habits.
- Must be capable of setting up and testing any mechanical inspections using proper tools and procedures.
- Must be capable of performing non-destructive testing, dimensional checks, blueprint readings, necessary shop mathematics.
- Must maintain a system for collecting data and record maintenance.
- Responsible for periodic checks of welding machines to verify the machine setting is within prescribed limits for the welding operation being performed.
- Must have knowledge of which corrective procedures may be applied when errors have occurred, and when to report problems to the supervisor responsible.
- Encourage and promote proper safety procedures, use of PPEs, and other company policies.
- Encourage and promote the proper operation and care of all equipment and machinery.
- Maintain a line of communication between inspection and manufacturing to resolve discrepancies as noted.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Qualifications include:
- Possess High School diploma or General Equivalency Degree (GED Must possess the ability and knowledge to confidently read blueprints and weld procedures.
- Must have prior knowledge of welding and fabrication.
- Must possess standard knowledge of hand and power tools and know how to use them.
- 1-3 years’ experience in previous work-related skills, knowledge, or experience is required.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
This section should include all preferred but not required skills/qualifications.
- AWS Certified Welder preferred
- An associate degree in quality technology
Working Conditions:
- Work is conducted inside and outside during all-weather types.
- Temperatures will be variable according to season and specific work site.
- Tasks may involve moderate to heavy physical labor.
- Walking, climbing, standing, sitting, and lifting are required
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to work in cold and hot weather conditions some part of the time.
- Be able to grip, pull, and push heavy objects.
- Ability to work with hands and routinely lift up to 50 lbs.
- Stand for extended periods of time.
