Job Description

This position is responsible for the inspection and measurement of automatic transmission parts to ensure they meet specifications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret part dimensional features from engineering drawings then render judgement.
  • Responsible for ensuring flow of quality-assured parts to support high volume production
  • Adhere to Standard Work Instructions (SWI)
  • Maintain professional, harmonious relations with other employees
  • Continuously interface with supervisors to communicate problems and develop solutions
  • Accurately record and report inspection and measurement results.
  • Continuously train and develop new skills
  • Analyze and continuously improve processes to increase overall efficiency (Kaizen)
  • Responsible for effective communication to supervisors by use of Stop, Call, and Wait methodology
  • Maintain quarantine areas
  • Interface with, and support, Quality Assurance Specialists for investigations
  • Ensure mission-ready status of assigned process equipment (Pre-Use Inspections and calibration)
  • Perform other tasks as requested by supervisor

Qualifications

Knowledge and Skills

  • Knowledge of metrology and gauge calibration preferred
  • High degree of mathematical aptitude and familiarity with Metric System
  • Knowledge of GD&T, Technical Drawings,and Technical Instructions preferred
  • Experience in fast-paced automotive manufacturing preferred
  • Knowledge of Toyota Production System (TPS) or Lean Six Sigma preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent cooperative personality
  • Ability and willingness to work in cross-cultural environment
  • Ability and willingness to work extended hours on short notice if necessary
  • Ability and willingness to work weekends and holidays
  • Sincere comittment to safety-above-all in all tasks assigned
  • Very high attention to detail and exacting in nature
  • Ability to understand, follow and implement posted work rules and company procedures.
  • Sorting/Reactive Quality experience is highly preferred
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) preferred
  • Ability to accept constructive criticism, posses a desire to grow, and posses a openness to change

Work Environment

  • Clean, year-round climate-controlled environment with occasional exposure to dust, noise, oils, greases, grinding debris, compressed air, metal shavings, solvents and less-occasional exposure to acids.
  • Exposed to hazardous machinery and/or conditions.
  • Exposed to shop elements such as noise, dust, odors, fumes, oils. The performance of this position normally requires exposure to a typical manufacturing areas where, under certain conditions, require the use of personal protective equipment beyond safety shoes and safety glasses (all necessary PPE provided)
  • May occasionally be required to assume awkward physical postures for prolonged periods of time in the course of sorting or rework activities.
  • Open staff room with constant activity and interaction with cross-functional divisions, departments, and sections.
