TITLE: Quality Control Specialist

REPORTS TO: QC Manager

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

SHIFT: 7am-3:30pm

This position is open to any qualified INDIVIDUAL regardless of sex, race, age, color, religion, national origin or disability.

Position Purpose

Assist Quality Assurance department in a variety of administrative support functions including interdepartmental communications on product integrity, hold and release status, and special projects.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. QA support contact to other parts of the organization on a variety of product quality items (R&D, refrigerated warehouse, ambient warehouse, customer service, customers, management, employees, etc).
  2. Product Release Process Administration
  • Audit pallet tag retrieval system for compliance to performance expectations.
  • Direct and / or collect all necessary paperwork.
  • Direct and / or assemble / organize release files.
  • Direct and / or review paperwork for compliance to guidelines / specifications.
  • Direct and / or review Exception reports; present to Quality Mgmt for approval
  • Direct and / or deliver COA’s to customers requiring them.
  • Jazz / SAP maintenance and auditing.
  • Work closely with Lead Technicians.
  • Investigation / initiation of continuous quality improvement program

  • Hold System
    • Maintaining the hold system / log / database.
    • Work with Jazz / SAP. Audit these systems for compliance to product movement.
    • Audit Hold System / Inventory for accuracy.
    • Manage product on hold (inventory of hold / dump / release tags).
    • Point of contact for Shipping of product.
    • Track and aggressively manage corrective action resulting from hold disposition.

  • Regulatory Review Activities
    • Document control, review all processing and production records for CCP’s .
    • Review processing and filling charts for correct recording of CCP’s and any deviations.
    • Retrieve Eurotherm data, print charts, and review for accuracy.
    • Print JUMO Tetra filler charts
    • Ensure required documentation is contained in the Processing run records file

  • Manage the Case Coding Image program.
    • Translate customer requested coding to company lot coding capabilities
    • Communicate and negotiate practical coding based on company and printer capabilities
    • Upload code to company software
    • Maintain coding example folder

  • Manage the Label Maintenance System for production.
  • Seek to improve training in skills required for the position.
  • Adhere to Company Policies, Procedures, and Rules.
  • Create and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Create and maintain a clean and sanitary working environment.
  • Maintain a positive, team-oriented attitude.
  • Perform any other work duties as assigned.
  • Work interdepartmentally with operations employees and managers to successfully meet their needs.
  • Qualifications

    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED

    Qualified candidates will have leadership capabilities, proven track record of strong planning and organization skills, experience with documentation and procedures (SOP’s), ability to assign work functions, follow-up on tasks, and ensure a safe environment.

    High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required; 3 years related experience and/or training.
