Quality Control Manager (CQCM) / Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO)

Industria, Inc.

Location: Chicago Area / Project-Based

Schedule: Full-Time | On-Site / Field-Based

Compensation: Competitive; based on experience and qualifications

Own Quality and Site-Safety Compliance for Complex Federal Construction Projects

Industria, Inc. is a Chicago-area construction firm providing general contracting, design-build, civil, construction management, program and project management, and self-perform services. We partner closely with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, vendors, and other stakeholders to deliver complex public and federal projects through planning, communication, hard work, and follow-through.

At Industria, every employee is integral to our success. We support balanced lives across work, family, and community while creating a positive environment that values both productivity and teamwork.

The Opportunity

Industria is seeking a dual-hat Quality Control Manager (CQCM) / Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) to lead the daily quality-control and site-safety programs on assigned federal construction projects.

This role combines field inspection, documentation, planning, and subcontractor coordination to ensure each definable feature of work meets contract, quality, and safety requirements.

What You Will Do

  • Develop, implement, and maintain project-specific Quality Control and Accident Prevention Plans in accordance with contract requirements, EM 385, OSHA, and company standards.
  • Administer the three-phase control process by conducting and documenting preparatory, initial, and follow-up meetings for each definable feature of work.
  • Perform daily field inspections and prepare accurate QC and safety reports; identify nonconforming work and drive timely corrective action.
  • Maintain submittal logs, inspection and testing records, safety documentation, and other required project reports.
  • Review shop drawings, submittals, plans, and specifications for conformance and coordinate technical reviews with the project team.
  • Verify incoming materials match approved submittals and are properly received, stored, protected, and released for use.
  • Coordinate required testing, inspections, commissioning, and documentation of building systems.
  • Lead and document weekly quality and safety meetings with the Superintendent and project team.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors and vendors to obtain complete AHAs, certifications, lift plans, training records, and other required safety documentation before work begins.
  • Collect and maintain toolbox talks, equipment inspections, safety-meeting records, and other compliance documentation.

What You Bring

  • 5–10 years of construction experience with a general contractor, including quality-control and site-safety responsibility on federal or public projects.
  • Current U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Construction Quality Management for Contractors (CQM-C) certification completed within the past five years.
  • OSHA 30-Hour and EM 385 40-Hour training completed within the past five years.
  • Current or obtainable OSHA HAZWOPER, NAVFAC ECATTS, and CPR/First Aid credentials, as required by assigned projects.
  • Broad knowledge of construction materials, methods, scopes of work, inspection practices, and safety requirements.
  • Proficiency with construction management platforms and standard business software.
  • Strong judgment, punctuality, diplomacy, and documentation skills, with the ability to address nonconformance constructively.
  • Ability to perform effectively under pressure and work at remote project locations.
  • Willingness and ability to travel or temporarily relocate based on project needs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Safety, Engineering, or a related discipline.

Benefits

  • Discretionary annual bonus based on individual performance and company profitability.
  • Two weeks (10 days) of paid vacation annually, earned in accordance with company policy.
  • Group health coverage after 30 days, with Industria paying 75% of employee coverage and 25% of family coverage.
  • 401(k) with a 100% company match on employee contributions up to 3%.
  • 10 paid company holidays and three paid bereavement days annually.
  • Company-paid life insurance, short-term disability, and long-term disability coverage in accordance with plan terms.
  • Company-sponsored outings and educational opportunities.

Our Hiring Process

Candidates should anticipate at least two interviews. Both are typically conducted in person, although the second interview may be conducted by phone or video.
