Quality Control Laboratory Associate

Performs routine analytical and microbiology laboratory preparation of solutions in
accordance with established standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and test methods. Assists laboratory work using prescribed analytical and microbiological techniques, follows good documentation practices (GDP) and current good manufacturing processes (cGMP).

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Performs daily, weekly, and monthly custodial duties as required, including sweeping, dusting, mopping, and trash removal.
• Reviews and supports reserve inventory management.
• Reviews and maintains representative sample storage.
• Prepares agar plates and performs autoclaving.
• Prepares diluents, reagents, and solutions.
• Forecasts need for microbiological media and prepares new media accordingly.
• Collects environmental samples.
• Provides administrative support of the laboratory, such as ordering and maintaining levels of supplies and consumables, including routine receiving and stocking of supplies and tracking of the receipt of ordered supplies and following up on undelivered items.
• Relies on instruction and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of assigned tasks.
• Works under general supervision using qualitative and quantitative techniques.
• Follows laboratory procedures; attention to detail is essential.
• Completes and maintain all required documentation for procedures and recording work.
• Demonstrates the ability to reproduce work accurately and consistently.

WHAT YOU NEED

• Education and/or Experience: By training, education and/or experience, employee must be able to perform the essential duties of the job.
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required; associates degree is preferred.
• Language Ability: Employee can read and understand the QC Laboratory’s standard operating procedures (SOPs) and the Thorne Research Employee Handbook. The employee follows instructions, both verbal and written, and communicates effectively with supervisors and fellow employees.
• Math Ability: Employee can add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers and decimals.
• Computer and Technical Skills: Proficiency in learning Microsoft Office systems is required, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Employee can learn to use company’s computer to perform lab programs including a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
• Demonstrated excellent time management skills and efficiency.
• Possesses the ability to provide technical support to coworkers and/or supervisors.
• Possesses good interpersonal skills and engages others in a positive manner.
• Possesses strong attention to detail
