Perform precision mechanical and electrical inspection/test of custom manufactured and commercial off the shelf parts and assemblies.
Will provide inspection support in the areas of incoming quality control, internal first articles and in-process inspections.
- Inspect machined/molded parts to assure conformance to engineering drawings and/or other documentation.
- Document inspection results using manual and computer-based systems.
- Generate Material Non-Conformance reports for items not meeting specifications.
- Interface with personnel within the quality department regarding work assignments and priorities.
- Interface with personnel in engineering, manufacturing and sales to resolve any issues relating to specifications or non-conformances.
- Other duties as assigned by the department lead, supervisor or manager.
Previous experience in a precision mechanical inspection environment, such as a machine shop, molding shop or other fabrication/manufacturing company.Hands-on experience with common inspection tools such as:
- Micrometers
- Calipers
- Pin/Plug Gages
- Ring Gages
- Go/No Go Gages
- Height Gages
- Profile Projectors
- Profilometers
- Surface Plates
- Reading and interpretation of engineering drawings and specifications.
- Computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Experience in use of and/or programming of automated inspection tools, such as vision inspection systems and CMMs.
- Experience working in an ISO 9001 manufacturing environment.
Education/Training:
Required: High school diploma or equivalent (two years of college preferred), 3 to 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment as a quality control inspector/technician.
Preferred: ASQ Certified Quality Inspector.
Working Conditions & Safety Concerns:
Operates sophisticated inspection/test equipment in a laboratory and/or shop floor manufacturing environment. Works at a PC station as needed. Assists manufacturing personnel on the floor as needed. Some physical activity required. General safety practices followed, including use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses and steel toe shoes as required.
