Job Description

Job Location Knoxville, IA 50138 Position Type Full Time Job Shift Day (1st)

Organizes and performs audits for conformance to Engineering specifications on weldments, assemblies, piece parts, and completed machines. Documents non-conformance, looks for patterns, and performs root cause analysis to eliminate issues.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensures the accuracy of components by organizing and performing audits of machines and/or piece parts before they move on to the next process.
  • Interprets engineering drawings, diagrams and confers with Management or Engineering to determine if parts and fit/finish of machines meet quality and reliability standards.
  • Documents nonconformance and assists with a development plan to correct.
  • Assists in the direction and training of assembly line personnel to verify machines are being built to required specifications.
  • Creates and maintains inspection documentation.
  • Assists with development and approval of assembly work instructions.
  • Works in a safe manner at all times.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma or GED Required

Mechanic Technology courses from a college or technical school preferred

5 years’ related experience in a heavy equipment manufacturing environment

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both over the phone and in person. Ability to read, write and comprehend documents and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information to internal and external individuals and groups. Ability to display active listening skills and ask the appropriate questions.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

Qualifications

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High School Diploma or GED Required

5 years’ related experience in an OEM, heavy equipment manufacturing environment

Valid Driver’s License Required

Located in Knoxville, Iowa, Weiler manufactures equipment for the paving market. Weiler equipment is based on proven designs that have a successful track record in the field. Weiler is a cutting-edge manufacturer with 340,000 square feet of manufacturing space. The facility is equipped with machining tools, welding, powder and wet paint and assembly, allowing Weiler to better control quality and delivery for the majority of their machine components.

The base designs for our self-propelled road wideners and asphalt windrow elevators were created by Barber-Greene, a company that was purchased by Caterpillar® in the early 1990s. Weiler purchased the designs from Cat® in 2005 and established the Weiler brand name.
