Job Title: Quality Control Inspector
Location: Surprise, Arizona

Interstate Assembly Systems, a leader in custom service vehicles, specialty upfits, and precision-built assemblies, is seeking a Quality Control Inspector to join our Surprise, Arizona team. This role is ideal for someone with a strong mechanical background — especially those with crane experience, diesel mechanic skills, electrical systems knowledge, or CAN Bus diagnostic experience.

The QC Inspector ensures that every vehicle and assembly leaving our facility meets the highest standards of safety, reliability, and craftsmanship. You’ll work closely with production, sales operations, and leadership to uphold quality expectations and support continuous improvement.

Primary (Essential) Duties:

  • Inspect, test, and measure materials, components, and completed products to verify compliance with specifications, safety standards, and customer expectations.
  • Utilize Record360 and other digital tools to complete accurate, timely inspection reports.
  • Verify that assembly teams complete corrective actions identified during QC review.
  • Monitor assembly processes to ensure adherence to production and quality standards.
  • Recommend process adjustments or improvements after review with supervisors.
  • Apply relevant industry codes and regulations, including OSHA, ANSI, CMAA, HMI, and others.
  • Assist with chassis check-in and documentation using internal software systems.

Preferred Technical Experience:

Candidates with any of the following will stand out immediately:

  • Crane operation, crane assembly, or overhead crane inspection experience
  • Diesel mechanic background, including troubleshooting and repair
  • Electrical System Knowledge, including wiring, schematics, and diagnostics
  • CAN Bus diagnostic or troubleshooting experience
  • Hydraulic and pneumatic system familiarity

Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities:

  • Excellent attendance and ability to work overtime.
  • Effective communication skills verbally and through email.
  • Experience operating forklifts.
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic.
  • Strong orientation towards cleanliness, safety, and quality.
  • Ability to lift to 75 lbs. on a regular basis.
  • Pre-employment drug screen required.
  • Knowledgeable with OSHA, ANSI, CMAA, HMI, MIOSHA, Part 18 and 20 standards and regulations for overhead cranes and hoisting systems.

Experience/Education Requirements:

  • Valid Driver’s License (CDL a Plus)
  • Strong mechanical knowledge.
  • Must have basic tools
  • Good eye for all aspects of quality.
  • Crane certification a plus.
  • Hydraulic and air system experience.

Working Conditions, Travel/Schedule expectations and Physical Demands:

  • Traditional work schedule includes occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays to meet business needs.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently stands and reaches with hands and arms and performs repetitive tasks. The employee is frequently required to walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance. The employee may regularly lift and/or move up to 35 pounds and infrequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. The employee may regularly be required to perform forceful use of hands, wrist and forearms.
