Job Description

As a Quality Control Engineer, you play a key role in ensuring that products meet internal and customer-defined quality standards throughout the pumps manufacturing process. You are responsible for planning, executing, and improving quality inspection routines, analyzing quality performance, and supporting both preventive and corrective actions. Your focus is to ensure that defects are detected early, quality risks are mitigated, and production outcomes are consistent and reliable. This role combines technical expertise in measurement and standards with structured problem-solving and cross-functional collaboration.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Quality Control Operations
    • Define and execute in-process and final product inspections.
    • Establish and maintain inspection plans, control plans, and sampling strategies.
    • Document inspection results and maintain records in quality management systems.
  • Quality Assurance & Compliance
    • Ensure product conformity to customer specifications, drawings, and industry standards.
    • Prepare and maintain quality documentation (inspection records, certificates, traceability).
    • Enforce internal quality standards and procedures across production lines.
    • Participate in audits (supplier, internal, customer, or regulatory) and implement corrective actions.
  • Non-Conformity Management
    • Detect, document, and evaluate non-conformities (NCRs), both internal and from customers.
    • Identify and implement containment actions (sorting, reworking, …) to protect internal production and customers.
    • Lead root cause analysis with relevant teams.
    • Follow up on rework, scrap decisions, and customer returns (RMA process).
    • Track and follow up on open issues to closure, ensuring effectiveness of corrective measures.
  • Data Analysis & Reporting
    • Monitor quality KPIs (scrap rate, defect rate, customer complaints, etc.).
    • Perform statistical analyses to identify trends and areas for improvement.
    • Generate quality reports and dashboards for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support in Continuous Improvement
    • Proactively identify recurring defects or trends of quality KPI and escalate to Management.
    • Suggest improvements to inspection methods, checklists, or test criteria based on field experience.
    • Support and initiate improvement projects based on quality findings.
    • Support Lean and Six Sigma initiatives related to external quality.
    • Collaborate in FMEA reviews, capability studies, and problem-solving workshops.
    • Act as a voice of quality in daily meetings and production reviews.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration
    • Work closely with Quality Engineers, Manufacturing, Procurement, and R&D to resolve quality issues.
    • Provide quality input during process changes, new product introduction and validations.
    • Support continuous improvement initiatives involving suppliers, including quality workshops and defect analysis sessions.
    • Participate in pre-series or prototype evaluations for new components.

Profile

  • Functional Competencies
    • Good understanding of technical drawings, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), and tolerancing standards.
    • Skilled in inspection techniques and use of measurement instruments (manual and digital).
    • Familiar with quality tools and methodologies: 8D, 5-Why, Ishikawa, SPC, MSA, FMEA.
    • Knowledge of ERP and QMS software systems.
    • Basic knowledge of quality standards such as ISO 9001 or relevant industry norms.
  • Methodological Competencies
    • Structured and detail-oriented approach to problem-solving.
    • Ability to interpret and apply statistical data in decision-making.
    • Skilled in report creation and root cause documentation using tools like 8D or Ishikawa.
    • Experience with root cause analysis and implementing sustainable corrective actions.
  • Leadership & Interpersonal Competencies
    • Effective communicator with production, engineering, and customers.
    • Able to lead investigations and align cross-functional teams around quality topics.
    • Strong sense of ownership, responsibility, and commitment to product quality.
    • Promotes a culture of quality awareness and continuous improvement on the shop floor.
    • Resilient under pressure and able to manage multiple priorities.
