Key Responsibilities (may include but not limited to):

  • Analyzes incoming bulk products and production blends for quality control.
  • Develops formulas and specifications for new blends based on customer requirements
  • Generates certificates of analyses for manufactured or blended products.
  • Investigates rejected or suspect product (i.e. RMA's) using root cause analysis
  • Provide technical support to both internal and external customers
  • Acquires and maintains laboratory equipment, reagents, and supplies to remain aligned with the needs of current product lines
  • Works closely with chemical operators by advising them on blend evaluation, adjustments, rework and other production related activities.
  • Applies analytical and statistical methods on manufactured products to track quality characteristics in order to develop and improve products.
  • Manages disposition of expired and non-conforming product including rework and waste disposal
  • Confers with external technical representatives and engineers regarding product applications and characteristics
  • Maintains the lab in accordance with the Chemical Hygiene Plan (CHP)
  • Coordinates samples to customers upon request
  • Participates in APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) Process
  • Maintain NSF 60 and other subscribed certifications
  • Prepares standards and specifications for processes, facilities, products, and tests.
  • Develops and approves appropriate documents associated lab activities.

Required Education / Training / Equivalent Experience (prior to hire / transfer:

  • Four year chemistry-related college degree
  • Strong working knowledge of chemistry, chemical production processes, and mass-balance calculations
  • Proficient in basic chemical analytical methods
  • Trained in problem solving techniques and team building skills
  • Trained in statistical techniques and concepts of continuous improvement
  • Knowledgeable of Microsoft Office computer programs
  • Excellent communication skills - written and verbal
  • People / team oriented

OTJ (Required within the initial employment period – varies per position and experience):

  • Knowledge of suppliers’ product lines and chemical database software.
  • Applicable ADAGE and Microsoft program skills
  • Service Report system
  • Understand all applicable procedures, work instructions, forms, checklists, etc.
  • Working knowledge of the ISO-9001 Standards and Responsible Distribution
  • Knowledgeable of all facility departments and specific functions
  • Knowledgeable of plant emergency and security procedures
  • Trained as an internal auditor
  • 24 hour HAZWOPER course
  • Training requirements from the New Employee Checklist
