Job Description

We’re looking for a pragmatic Quality Manager to lead the evolution of our quality function at Heffron. This is a key leadership role, focused on moving beyond traditional quality control and embedding quality, governance and continuous improvement into how work is done across the business.

If you are an experienced quality or continuous improvement leader within financial services who is passionate about driving operational excellence, influencing change, and building scalable systems this is an opportunity to have real impact.

About the role

Reporting to the Head of SMSF Administration, you will lead the Quality function and a small team of SMSF Specialists, driving an efficient, risk-based quality design.

This role is not about being the final reviewer or catching the errors at the end of a process – it’s about designing the framework, system and behaviours that ensure quality is consistently achieved at source.

You will partner across the business to strengthen governance, improve processes and build capability, ensuring Heffron continues to deliver accurate, compliant and scalable SMSF services.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead, coach and develop a team to deliver high-impact quality, training and improvement outcomes
  • Design and implement a risk-based quality framework aligned to SMSF complexity and compliance obligations
  • Identify and reduce inefficiencies, rework and workflow bottlenecks across administration processes and work in the business to fix them
  • Embed data-driven insights and metrics to identify trends, risks and improvement opportunities
  • Strengthen governance frameworks and ensure regulatory obligations are consistently met
  • Partner with Technical, Operations, Client and People teams to improve capability and accountability. This role doesn’t simply tell others where the problems are
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that deliver measurable and sustained outcomes

About you

You are a hands-on leader with previous experience implementing process change within an established business function.

You bring:

  • Significant experience in financial services with the ability to apply your expertise within the SMSF industry (8+ years)
  • Experience in the superannuation industry is preferred but not essential
  • Proven experience leading a quality assurance, quality management, governance or continuous improvement function.
  • The ability to quickly develop an understanding of complex regulatory and operational environments and define what good quality outcomes look like
  • Experience working in regulated environment with strong compliance requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement process improvement and scalable frameworks
  • Experience identifying root causes and a keen interest in change for the better across systems and people
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing capability
  • A collaborative, solutions-focused mindset with a focus on outcomes over activity

Why join Heffron?

You’ll work alongside respected SMSF industry experts, shape how quality is embedded across a growing organisation, and help deliver high-quality SMSF solutions that make a meaningful difference for clients, advisers and the business.

  • Additional leave benefits and flexibility to support balance and long-term sustainability
  • The chance to work with and learn from highly regarded SMSF specialists and industry experts
  • A leadership role with scope to influence strategy, systems, governance and continuous improvement
  • The opportunity to make real change in a growing organisation that values technical excellence and high-quality SMSF solutions
  • A collaborative culture built on courage, accountability, trust, authenticity, respect and excellence
