Job Description

New Flyer, North America's leading manufacturer of heavy-duty transit buses, is seeking a Quality Assurance Technician to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be vital in ensuring that all products meet our stringent quality standards and customer requirements. You’ll work closely with production staff, engineers, and customer inspectors to maintain quality control throughout the manufacturing process. The work schedules are as follows:

  • 1st Shift - Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with the possibility for mandatory overtime Monday through Thursday until 5:30 PM, and every other Saturday from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM.
  • 2nd Shift - Monday to Thursday, 3:00 PM to 1:30 AM, with the possibility of mandatory overtime every other Friday from 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct inspections of assemblies, sub-assemblies, and finished buses to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and customer requirements.
  • Use precision testing and measuring instruments effectively to assess product quality.
  • Document and report defects promptly to production supervisors and support corrective action.
  • Collaborate effectively with production teams and customer representatives.
  • Follow established ISO 9001 Quality Assurance procedures and company policies.
  • Manage non-conformance issues with vendors, including audits and first article inspections.
  • Train other technicians on quality assurance processes and promote continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain work area organization and adhere to 5S standards.
  • Support special assignments and quality improvement projects as needed.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a quality assurance or manufacturing inspection role, preferably in heavy manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.
  • Proficient in reading blueprints and technical documentation.
  • Experience with precision measuring equipment and quality testing tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and data management systems.
  • Ability to multitask effectively and manage priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
