The Quality Assurance (QA) Supervisor provides leadership and daily direction to Quality Technicians and Specialists, ensuring timely and effective implementation of all company policies and procedures. This position is also responsible for maintaining a system of quality and reliability testing to ensure product quality and safety. Additional responsibilities include implementing and monitoring programs, analyzing information, and providing feedback for the improvement of systems and processes across the organization.

Essential Functions:

  • Provides leadership and daily direction to Quality Technicians, Quality Specialists, and Lead Quality Technician across multiple shifts, working in both a laboratory and manufacturing setting.
  • Prepares and conducts performance reviews for direct reports and creates individual goals and development plans for those employees.
  • Assists in the implementation and maintenance of policies, SOPs, and quality system programs which ensure proper testing, evaluation, inspection, and technical support to meet product quality standards.
  • Reviews operational records to verify compliance and record keeping to QMS program and GFSI certification requirements.
  • Assists in investigating and correcting quality-related issues (including customer complaints) through collaboration with other departments.
  • Develops and implements procedures and tools for recording, evaluating, and reporting results.
  • Ensures customer specifications and sampling requirements are met and concerns are being resolved in a timely and effective manner.
  • Actively participates on HACCP and QMS teams to continuously improve the site Food Safety Plan (HACCP/Prerequisite Programs).
  • Supports the execution of internal and third-party quality audits and inspections (e.g. regulatory compliance, customer, and certifications) and assists with corrective action implementation.
  • Actively participates on committees as assigned.
  • Conducts training across multiple departments on quality management system procedures and programs.
  • Acts as back-up and provides support to QA staff as needed.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned.

  • Must have a general understanding of how a laboratory works with the ability to troubleshoot equipment, perform calibration and testing procedures, and order materials.

Required Education & Experience:

  • Ability to maintain current knowledge, skills and/or certifications relevant to assigned job responsibilities.
  • A bachelor's degree in food science, chemistry, biology, microbiology, or related field.
  • 3 years of related work experience.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience considered.

Preferred Education & Experience:

  • HACCP Certification/PCQI Certification
  • Internal Auditor
  • Previous experience working in a laboratory setting.
  • Previous experience working in the food and beverage industry in a lead or supervisor position preferred.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervises Quality Technicians, Quality Specialists, and Lead Quality Technician on first and second shift (approximately 5-7 employees).

Work Location & Travel Required:
This position works on-site reporting to the Princeton location. Work-related travel is occasionally required.

Work Environment & Physical Demands:

  • This position requires the ability to sit and use a computer for extended periods of time, including the dexterity to frequently type on a keyboard.
  • Requires the ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Involves frequent exposure to noise and the ability to stand on a hard surface for extended periods of time.
  • Work is primarily performed indoors in a lab, office and/or production floor setting.

Starting Pay Range:
$70,000 - 85,000 Annually

Where a candidate falls within the pay range will vary based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, geographic location, education, skills and experience.
