Job Description

Winpak Control Group Inc. is seeking a Quality Assurance Specialist to join our Quality assurance team based out of Norwood, New Jersey.

In this role, you will play a key role in supporting and advancing quality, food safety, and compliance initiatives across Winpak Control Group Inc. Reporting to the Quality Manager and working closely with the Quality Assurance Manager, this role supports operational activities and quality systems to ensure the achievement of established quality objectives, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement across multiple quality functions.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Management Systems & Food Safety

  • Actively support and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS), including ISO 9001, SQF, cGMP, HACCP, SOPs, and other quality programs and initiatives.
  • Participate in the investigation of customer complaints and Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPAs), including tracking, documentation, and follow-up to closure.
  • Review and verify production records and laboratory documentation to ensure compliance and accuracy.
  • Support internal, customer, and certification audits, including preparation, participation, and response development.
  • Contribute to HACCP/Food Safety Plan meetings and assist with ongoing updates and improvements.
  • Maintain strong oversight of document control, including version management and controlled distribution.

Laboratory Operations Support

  • Assist with onboarding and training of new laboratory personnel.
  • Support the implementation, validation, and ongoing improvement of laboratory methods and instrumentation.
  • Coordinate and monitor equipment maintenance, calibration schedules, and instrumentation updates.
  • Oversee environmental monitoring and compliance testing activities.
  • Review laboratory batch records for completeness and conformance.

Production & Quality Control Support

  • Serve as a backup for QC Shift Technicians as needed.
  • Analyze and approve production samples, incoming raw materials, and outgoing shipment samples.
  • Review and disposition restricted or non-conforming inventory.
  • Coordinate in-house and external testing for special samples, investigations, or project-based analyses.

Health & Safety

  • Promote and maintain health and safety standards across assigned activities.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and contribute to corrective actions and preventative measures.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Oversee the archiving, review, and retention of quality documentation and records.
  • Support and participate in certification (e.g., SQF, ISO 9001), regulatory, and customer audits.
  • Review pest control reports and other related quality documentation.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support departmental and organizational objectives.
  • The Quality Assurance Specialist operates in full compliance with company policies and procedures related to employment standards, health and safety, quality systems, product safety and legality, security, and applicable regulatory requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of relevant experience in quality assurance, food safety, or a related field.
  • Strong working knowledge of quality systems, food safety regulations, and industry standards
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and documentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, manufacturing or laboratory setting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Outlook

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related scientific, technical, or quality discipline.
    (Equivalent professional training and/or experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.)
  • Experience supporting ISO 9001, SQF, HACCP, or similar certification programs.
  • Prior exposure to laboratory operations, audits, or regulated manufacturing environments.

Compensation range:

  • The compensation range is $30–$35 and is provided as a general guideline only. Pay will be determined based on the candidate's experience and expertise and is subject to vary.
