Requisition Summary

PACCAR’s Global Powertrain Department develops engines, drivelines, and axles. They are operating in Europe and North America. The Zero Emissions Powertrain department is part of GPT and developing new electrified components to support truck applications in the global product offerings under the Kenworth, Peterbilt, and DAF brands. We are focused on new technologies such as battery electric, hydrogen fuel cell electric, and advanced vehicle concepts in the heavy and medium-duty transportation industries. We are seeking a Quality Assurance Officer - Design for Six Sigma with a strong electrical background to support quality in projects and processes within the Zero Emission Powertrain Department.

Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Implementation of Quality Procedures within N.A. Engineering teams by providing training, direct support, and oversight: assists project managers and engineers in navigating work within the product creation process (e.g. supporting process and deliverables, reviews, DFMEA sessions, planning updates)
  • Perform Quality-Assessments on specific Deliverables per Product Creation Process (PCP) Tollgate requirements
  • Six Sigma expertise: executing and supporting Six Sigma projects and DFSS Tools, Project coordination/tracking, and Reporting
  • Champion a culture of Continuous improvement within the organization. This involves identifying opportunities for process and quality improvement including but not limited to Product Development, Purchasing, Operations, and Supplier Quality Assurance
  • Serve as a technical sparring partner and coach with the project team. This means providing guidance and support, resolving communication issues, removing road blocks, and supporting communication between departments.
  • Issue resolution: follow-up on issues using Six Sigma tools for root cause analyses and product improvements (FRACAS, EPN, Tracks)
  • Report progress of PCP-projects: communicating status, changes, risks/gaps, and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Performs other work-related duties as assigned

Skills / Competencies

  • 5 to 10 years experience in design engineering required (electrical background strongly preferred)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with proven ability to deliver technical presentations and written reports to diverse audiences
  • Ability to identify and communicate product and process risks
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a team to achieve quality objectives in a timely fashion
  • Experience in auditing procedures, processes, and tools
  • Experienced in quality methods and tools like DFSS / 6 Sigma, brainstorming sessions, problem-solving techniques, FMEA, DVP
  • Demonstrated automotive or related product knowledge
  • Willing to collaborate on a global scale across multiple continents and time zones
  • Passionate about people, quality, and continuous improvement
  • Travel up to 20% internationally

Qualifications

  • Six Sigma/DFSS trained
  • Working knowledge of zero emission, engine, after-treatment strategies
  • Ability to lead projects of significant ambiguity and generate useful analytical results
  • Effectively manage personal workload and flexibility to respond to changing priorities

Education

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related field required
