Position Summary

The Quality Assurance Manager leads and directs all Quality Assurance activities related to Customer Quality, Plant Quality, and Supplier Quality within an automotive manufacturing environment. This position is responsible for

establishing quality strategy and Hoshin objectives, maintaining customer and regulatory requirements, driving problem resolution and continuous improvement and developing the Quality Assurance organization.

Position Responsibilities

The incumbent is expected to perform the following functions that the company has determined are essential to this position:

  • Establish and manage Quality Assurance Hoshin Kanri objectives, strategies, targets, and performance indicators.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain Quality Assurance policies, procedures, standards, and systems.
  • Lead quality activities for new product launches, HVPT, SOP, and initial production control, including customer submissions, inspection planning, pilot production, reliability testing, and process reviews.
  • Manage customer, supplier, and internal quality concerns, including containment, root cause investigation, corrective actions, countermeasures, reporting, and effectiveness verification.
  • Maintain mass-production and field quality performance, including QPR/QIR activity, recurring issue prevention, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop and maintain inspection plans, quality standards, product quality data, and product disposition/shipment controls.
  • Ensure effective engineering and process change control, including ECI and quality verification requirements.
  • Maintain strong customer quality relationships through effective communication, rapid response, and timely resolution of concerns.
  • Ensure appropriate supplier and incoming material quality controls and support supplier quality improvement.
  • Promote effective measurement systems, including MSA, GR&R, calibration, and control of measuring equipment.
  • Maintain applicable automotive Quality Management System certification, customer-specific requirements, and internal, customer, and certification audit processes.
  • Ensure products and manufacturing processes comply with customer drawings, specifications, standards, AIAG requirements, and product approval processes.
  • Lead structured problem solving and continuous improvement while promoting cross-functional collaboration with Manufacturing, Engineering, Maintenance, Production Control, Purchasing, and suppliers.
  • Develop and manage the Quality Assurance budget and prepare quality performance information for management reviews.
  • Perform responsibilities in accordance with company safety, security, environmental, and work standards, and perform other related duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

The Quality Assurance Manager will have direct supervision of the Quality Assurance team to include Assistant Managers and Specialists.

Beneficial Skills and Experience

  • Engineering Experience in die casting, machining, assembly would be relevant experience.
  • Automotive manufacturing experience strongly preferred, including machining and/or assembly operations.
  • Experience with customer, plant, and supplier quality management, including new product launches and mass-production support.
  • Working knowledge of IATF 16949, AIAG Core Tools, APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plans, SPC, MSA/GR&R, GD&T, and structured problem solving.
  • Experience managing customer quality concerns, audits, corrective actions, and supplier quality issues.

Education/Training/Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quality, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Minimum seven (7) years of relevant manufacturing experience, with significant experience in Quality Assurance or Quality.
  • Minimum three (3) years of leadership or management experience in a machining and assembly environment.
