Job Description
The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for overseeing and maintaining quality control procedures and programs to ensure that customer expectations are consistently met. This role reports directly to the Operations Manager and has a dotted line reporting relationship to the Corporate Director of Quality Management.
This position will oversee all QA for a brand new highly automated facility currently being built in Columbus, Mississippi.
Job Responsibilities
- Inspection Procedures: Verify that inspection procedures used by all personnel are accurate and compliant with established quality control standards
- Team Management: Lead and manage a team of quality professionals to ensure that parts meet all customer specifications.
- Quality Standards: Maintain and update quality control standards and procedures, ensuring that all relevant personnel are informed and compliant
- ISO Compliance: Support the management team in maintaining ISO 9001 compliance and assist during ISO and customer audits
- Material Inspection: Oversee the inspection of incoming and outgoing materials to confirm that specifications are met
- Corrective Actions: Evaluate rejected material (both internal and external) and manage the corrective action system to reduce nonconformances and waste
- PPAP Submissions: Manage Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) submissions to customers and ensure all requirements are satisfied
- Training Programs: Develop and implement programs to educate, train, and update all personnel on quality control procedures
- Gage Calibration: Manage the gage calibration system, ensuring that all gages are properly calibrated and maintained
- Inspection Technology: Integrate new inspection technologies to enhance accuracy and efficiency in the inspection process
- Other Duties: Perform additional duties as assigned by the Operations Manager or Corporate Director of Quality Management
Qualifications
- 8-10 years of experience in a quality management role, preferably within the metal fabrication industry
- 4-year college degree or equivalent, preferably with a technical or engineering focus
- Lead activities and reporting to gain and maintain IATF/ISO certification

Familiar with customer/supplier PPM

Utilize quality tools such as APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, Control plans, 8D, 5 Why

Experience with Steel/Aluminum surface inspection for exposed and unexposed automotive applications
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints
- Advanced skills in problem solving and Statistical Process Control (SPC).
- Experience in hiring, developing, and managing a team of quality professionals
- Proficient in using measurement tools such as calipers, height gauges, protractors, etc
- Strong knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Experience with Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM)
