Job Description

Typically reports to a Quality Engineering Manager. Under minimal supervision, provides leadership for development and deployment of assigned business functions. Drives operational process improvement through metrics, problem identification, root cause analysis and, developing and implementing corrective action plans. Provides leadership and takes ownership of driving continuous improvement at a local, regional and in some cases at the enterprise level. Ensures successful design and implementation of the metrics, quality plans,

Statistical Process Controls, and/or internal audits locally or regionally. Facilitates successful implementation and maintenance of the Quality System (policies, processes, procedures, tools and controls) at one or more sites and/or takes on lead roles at the functional, division or affiliate level.

• To fulfill local and/or regional department or business objectives, provides functional leadership to local department staff for specific areas of Quality Engineering responsibilities.
• To fulfill local and/or regional department or business objectives, under minimal guidance, provides leadership to department members or peer teams on projects with a broad project accountability Supporting role to Quality Engineering Manager
• To maintain local accreditations/regulatory requirements, provide support at one or more sites including training development and facilitation, standards interpretations, consulting on issues, planning and conducting internal quality (accreditation) and/or business related audits supporting, external assessments and supporting maintenance of local Quality Management Systems.
• To achieve business and operational performance results, of provides leadership and takes ownership driving continuous improvement at enterprise-wide level, ensures successful design and implementation by developing quality metrics, analyzing data including Statistical Process Controls and leading/championing Lean Sigma projects.
• To achieve business and operational performance results, leads resolution of non-conformances that have enterprise-wide impact by identifying owners, working with staff on root cause analysis and appropriate corrective actions.
• To support divisional and industry needs at one or more sites, drives operational process improvement through metrics, problem identification, root cause analysis and, developing and implementing corrective action plans.
• To fulfill departmental objectives of cross-training and resource optimization trains and mentors subordinate staff.
• Read and follow the Underwriters Laboratories Code of Conduct, and follow all physical and digital security practices.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Preferred - University degree (or equivalent) in Engineering, or related field plus generally six years of directly related experience in Quality Engineering some of which includes at least one year of quality leadership responsibilities.
• Detailed knowledge of quality systems principles including quality and business excellence models (e.g., ISO 19011, 17025, 17065, 17020, Lean Sigma, Baldrige / Shingo).
• Position requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills; distinctive ability to interact with local and regional levels of leadership and accreditors/auditors.
• Demonstrated ability to influence and negotiate skillfully in challenging situations with both internal and external groups in order to achieve desired outcomes without damaging relationships.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct root cause analysis and plan/implement corrective action.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze data, to interact with local and regional areas of the organization, and to present and facilitate discussions of assessment results process improvements, and KPIs.
• Detailed knowledge of process mapping and process redesign.

• Detailed knowledge of auditing and CAPA principles and techniques.
