Position Details:

The Test Lead – AVP/Manager will lead end-to-end quality validation for complex applications, ensuring complete test coverage, backend data validation, traceability, and audit-ready deliverables in support of regulatory and control requirements. This role supports both SIT and UAT and works closely with developers, business stakeholders, and test teams to validate system integrations, manage defects, and strengthen quality outcomes in a regulated banking environment. Strongly preferred candidate is a QE SME with domain experience in AML, sanctions compliance, credit risk, and financial operations / general ledger processes. Candidate should also pose deep knowledge and experience in QE tooling including automation and AI experience

  • Lead the design and execution of automated testing using Playwright, with a focus on improving speed, coverage, and reliability.
  • Drive adoption of AI-assisted (agentic) testing practices to reduce manual effort and improve test quality.
  • Work closely with development teams to ensure testing is embedded in the delivery lifecycle, supporting fast and stable releases.
  • Act as a hands-on leader, building automation frameworks while guiding the team on modern testing practices

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Review requirements and design documents to define risk-based SIT/UAT test coverage.
  • Design, execute, and document test cases with full traceability to requirements, defects, and results.
  • Validate backend processing, integrations, data flows, and SQL-based reconciliations across critical systems.
  • Lead defect triage, root cause analysis, resolution tracking, and retesting.
  • Provide SIT/UAT status reporting, risk escalation, and audit-ready testing deliverables.
  • Design and implement Playwright-based automation frameworks for UI, API, and end-to-end testing.
  • Lead the development of agentic testing workflows, including:
    • Generating test cases from requirements using AI
    • Automating test script creation using tools like Copilot
    • Using AI to analyze failures, logs, and test outputs
  • Build and maintain a scalable test harness, including reusable components, fixtures, and test data setup.
  • Drive automation-first testing, reducing reliance on manual regression.
  • Use Playwright capabilities to improve quality:
    • Faster execution with parallel testing
    • Better stability using built-in waits and isolation
    • Debugging with traces, screenshots, and logs
  • Use CLI-based workflows (e.g., Copilot CLI) to:
    • Run and manage large test suites
    • Analyze failures and flaky tests
    • Improve test execution efficiency
  • Ensure test scripts stay aligned with application changes and requirements.
  • Mentor team members on automation best practices and AI-driven testing techniques
  • Track and report on key testing metrics (coverage, execution time, defect leakage).

Job Requirements and Experience:

  • 8–13 years of experience in Quality Engineering / Test Automation for complex enterprise applications in regulated environments.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Playwright or similar modern automation frameworks
  • Experience building and maintaining automation frameworks (not just writing tests).
  • Exposure to AI-assisted testing or automation tools (e.g., Copilot, test generation tools).
  • Solid understanding of:
    • UI and API testing
    • Test automation design patterns (e.g., page object model)
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work closely with developers and business teams.
  • Strong knowledge of STLC, testing methodologies, control validation, and regulated banking environments.
    Strong SQL, ETL, backend testing, and data reconciliation skills across high-risk data flows and integrations.
  • Experience with relational databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, and PostgreSQL.
    Strongly preferred: domain experience in AML, sanctions compliance, credit risk, and financial operations / general ledger processes.
  • Strong communication, risk escalation, and cross-functional stakeholder coordination skills.

  • AI-assisted test generation and execution workflows
  • Debugging & Observability: Playwright trace viewer, screenshots, logs, and video capture
  • Languages: JavaScript / TypeScript (preferred). Java / Python (optional)
  • Test Design: Page Object Model, Modular test frameworks and reusable components
  • Experience with test management tools such as Jira (Xray/Zephyr) and ALM.
  • Experience with reporting and dashboard tools such as Tableau and Power BI.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins and Git.

Education level:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related discipline required; a master’s degree is preferred.
  • Advanced certifications in software testing, quality assurance, project delivery, or relevant technology domains are strongly preferred.
