Job Description
Tests and inspects product at various stages of production process and complies and evaluates statistical data to determine and maintain quality and reliability of product.
Responsibilities
- Monitors sanitation and proper sanitation procedures.
- Inspects processing equipment to ensure it’s completely sanitized prior to running production.
- Monitors specific processes assigned for each product, i.e., quality (grade), weight control, etc.
- Records test data applying statistical quality control procedures.
- Maintains and files test data records.
- Assists Production Dept. in meeting company specifications and government regulations.
- Notifies production supervisor and QC manager if samples are out of grade.
- Performs analysis for enzyme deactivation (Peroxidase/Catalyse).
- Checks and records blancher temperatures and retention time.
- Checks chlorine concentrations in waste line at chiller, sprayers, residual, etc.
- Checks and records net/drained weights.
- Checks scales to ensure calibration (accurate weight and balance).
- Inspects packaging, labels and coding to ensure compliance with customer specifications.
- Adheres to all company and facility policies, work rules, and procedures.
- Will don personal protective equipment (PPE) before commencing work.
- Follows all safety guidelines set forth by the Company.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent
EXPERIENCE:
- Experience in food quality assurance or related field preferred, but not required.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
- Familiarity with HACCP, GMP, and statistical analysis preferred, but not required.
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
LANGUAGE: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules/signs, operating and maintenance instructions and procedures
