The purpose of the Quality Engineer is to provide all relevant quality and compliance assurance services primarily within the Aircraft and Component manufacturing organisation and,
secondary, the Aircraft Maintenance and Continuing Airworthiness Management Organisations in accordance with all applicable aviation regulations in force at the time and Britten-Norman
approvals, as issued. The role is also responsible for assisting in developing the Quality & Compliance Management System and promoting measurable effectiveness and continuous improvement activities across the Company

Key Responsibilities

Operating with the full delegated authority of the Head of Compliance and Compliance Monitoring Manager and in addition to the Job Description and Terms of Reference made elsewhere in Company Expositions, assist in achieving departmental objectives in all aspects of Quality & Compliance Monitoring activities by:

  • Actioning the deliverables of the Annual Compliance Monitoring Programmes according to assigned business unit and supporting the similar activities in place across all business units where necessary.
  • Assisting in achieving objectives set in place for the Internal Compliance Monitoring Programmes in which all Aircraft and Component Production procedures are reviewed at regular intervals and to bring any noncompliance or non-conformance or poor standards to the attention of the responsible person concerned.
  • Assisting in achieving objectives set in place for the Internal Compliance Monitoring Programmes in which all Aircraft Maintenance and Continuing Airworthiness Management procedures are reviewed at regular intervals in relation to each type of aircraft maintained and managed and to bring any non-compliance or non-conformance or poor standards to the attention of the responsible person concerned.
  • Using appropriate measures of bespoke Audit Management Systems and derived from guidance materials in the public domain to show effective progress of various Compliance Monitoring Programmes.
  • Ensuring effective and timely closure of any Findings or Observations raised supporting Nominated Persons and other actors in the business with effective Non Compliance Management requirements Assist all colleagues in implementation of responses to Non-compliance and investigation outputs.
  • Managing effective Quality Assurance and Compliance Monitoring records according to Company Expositions & Regulatory requirements.
  • Audit suppliers and sub-contractors as required to supplement and support Supply Chain initiatives.
  • On behalf of the Compliance Monitoring Manager and supporting as required, offer full assistance and preparation for any audits of an external origin including Aviation and other Regulators, Certification Bodies, Customers and Clients. Otherwise assist the Head of Compliance Monitoring and Compliance Monitoring Manager in achieving departmental objectives in all aspects of Quality & Compliance Monitoring activities by:
  • Monitoring for trends and improvement opportunities within Internal and External Audit and Oversight activities. Produce accurate and timely reports derived from current, relevant and valid Business Intelligence factors on ‘the cost of quality’ and ‘the cost of doing business’.
  • Assisting and developing Quality & Compliance Monitoring Plans as part of continuous improvement opportunities and industry best-practice.
  • Being an advocate of Quality Assurance and Compliance Monitoring strategies in all business units, maintaining and keeping up to date with industry best-practice and developing and delivering an attitude of being a ‘Business Partner’ in the business.
  • Developing various strategies to assist the organisation in maintaining adequate Management of Change activities in relation to the Aviation Regulations and other Regulations and Standards are for the time being in force.
  • Being an advocate and ambassador of Change in all areas of operations of BN fully supporting the Change Management processes.
  • Being a Subject Matter Expert and maintaining own standards to support Quality Assurance and Compliance Monitoring activities in all business units in which these activities take place and manage one’s own output ensuring effective and timely closure of any Findings or Observations raised, monitoring at all times for developing trends.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Must be able to demonstrate a period of relevant and suitable experience of 3 years or more working within Quality Assurance and Compliance Monitoring activities within the aerospace industry, in a UK CAA regulatory environment.
  • Qualified Aerospace / Aviation Auditor.
  • Accredited Aviation Regulations Training in Part145, Part-CAMO/CAO and Part-21G and J.
  • Experience in the generation of Quality Plans and planning of Quality Assurance and Compliance Monitoring tasks.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Ability to achieve a UK security clearance
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and
    written.
