Position Title: Quality Assurance Coordinator - Liquids

Reporting into Title: Quality Manager

Business and Department: ABF Quality

Position Purpose/

Summary:
The Quality Coordinator is responsible for supporting all activities in quality assurance and quality control through safe and consistent processes that adhere to company standards. Primary responsibilities will be approving and recording results for incoming materials, in-process production, and finished products.

Position Responsibilities-Tasks-Deliverables

All duties as assigned and the following specific activities.

  • Coordinates activities assigned by Quality Manager including: Assign labels and production lines to QA team; issue QMR; issues COC, support the QC department as needed; and others.
  • Coordinates all quality department activities on the shift including the following activities: issue COC when it needed, Issue QMR if it needed, correct the write up, inspect lines and labels when it needed, etc..
  • Retrieves and reviews daily production schedule to anticipate changes. May need to react to line shifts and effort to meet quality review and reporting.
  • Upholds GMPs processes and GMP audits.
  • Interacts with other department coordinators to sustain quality standards in the development of products through leading practices and procedures.
  • Coordinates incoming label inspection following client and business protocol.
  • Assists Quality Lab with incoming chemical testing and batch approval. Will follow a specification with oversight to measure quality of batch product.
  • Ensures Plant Floor documentation is accurate and followed. Such as ensuring that the production line activity to produce the output is adhered to without error.
  • Performs 1st Piece, torque checks, quality line inspection per the write-up. Document control prints the write up. Inspection occurs at regularly set intervals based upon documentation write-up.
  • In the event of a quality issue, documentation and communication is required, including a QA hold determination and advising proper personnel relevant to that production line.
  • Ensures all nonconforming material is properly identified, contained and dispositional.
  • Issues QMR for supplier related issues, on-going as determined by production activity.
  • Enters, transcribes, records, stores, or maintains quality information in written and electronic form.
  • Initiates, recommends, or provides solutions through designated channels and verifies the implementation of solutions.
  • Maintain up to date and calibrated QC equipment; including pH meter, scales, thermometers etc.
  • Researches and gathers data for special studies.
  • Trains and supervises Quality Control Technicians.
  • Responsible for taking ownership of coordinating the quality department such as: Assigning production lines to QA(s), making sure that the QA tech(s) show up on time, taking their lunch break on time, make sure QA tech(s) follow the write up, correcting the mistakes in their write ups, and other mentoring activities as appropriate.
  • Adheres to client standards and handles any and all related issues directly; with the advising of management.
  • Demonstrates proactive action to avoid quality concerns.
  • Follows all company guidelines for Emergency Evacuation to ensure employee safety.
  • Maintains a clean and safe work environment at all times.
  • Create inspection plans based on customer spec.

  • Provides day to day attention to quality team members so as to meet labor demands and quality standards; may need to recognize team member issues proactively so as to present to Quality Manager.

Qualifications

Knowledge-Skills-Abilities

Education:

  • High School or GED equivalent



Experience:

At least 2 years specific topic experience and the following:

  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Strong mathematical ability required.
  • Propensity to create and maintain organized work flow and output.
  • Strong attention to detail in communication, data integrity, timeliness, and accuracy.
  • Conscientious to manage multiple tasks, inquiries, and work expectations so as to meet quality standards; typically occurring in a dynamic work setting requiring capability to adjust focus.
  • Problem solves so as to identify, define, and offer solutions.
  • Self-directed work out put initiative is expected.
  • Successful at creating positive work relationships with others to achieve desired results.
  • Trained to recognize personal action steps or learning effort so as to demonstrate proper accountability towards one’s results.

Technology/Software:

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office; Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook

Communication:

  • Strong leadership skills with a proactive attitude.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written required.
  • Ability to interact and to manage conflict in stressful situations while maintaining composure and perspective.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and professionally with others.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule
  • Bilingual Spanish/English a plus

Physical Capabilities:

Strength: ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Hands on inspection of assigned project, including touching, reading, and comprehension which may occur repetitively.

Movement: 85% walking through production lines and on the production floor providing Quality oversight; 15% committed to more stationary actions including desk work, computer focus, or attending meetings.

Hearing: work environment is not overly exposed to any hearing triggers or elevated sounds. Expected to be able to absorb verbal work direction or machine cues.

Vision: Imperative to be able to have excellent visual functionality to meet job task output for quality standards.
