Quality and Safety Specialist – Kennedy Space Center

Astrion is seeking a Quality and Safety Specialist to join our team at the Kennedy Space Center (KSC), supporting the LASSO II Contract.

This is a full-time, onsite role where you’ll ensure mission-critical operations are conducted safely, effectively, and in compliance with LASSO II, NASA, federal, and industry standards.

This position is ideal for a safety-conscious, detail-driven professional who thrives in dynamic environments where human spaceflight, cutting-edge technology, and mission success converge.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Quality, Engineering, Safety, Occupational Health, or related field
  • Experience: 5+ years of combined relevant experience in quality assurance and EHS regulatory compliance
  • Skills:
    • Excellent communication, presentation, and customer-facing skills
    • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access) and SharePoint
    • Ability to work independently and in a team environment with minimal supervision
    • Physical ability to climb stairs/ladders, wear PPE, and work both indoors and outdoors in hazardous operations and laboratory environments

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS:

  • AS9100D Lead Auditor certification
  • OSHA 30 certification
  • Associate Safety Professional (ASP) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
  • Industrial Hygiene background or field experience

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide oversight and implementation support for Astrion’s AS9100D-compliant Quality Management System
  • Serve as the primary internal auditor for the LASSO II contract performing audits and interfacing with employees and management
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between the LASSO II laboratory groups, NASA Quality, and customer audit teams
  • Perform quality inspection of GSE and flight hardware, including work involving cable fabrication, process changes, QMS compliance, supporting in house quality inspectors with guidance
  • Conduct site safety, health, and quality assessments across operational and research programs
  • Support hazardous operations, including work involving high-pressure gases, toxic materials, hypergolic propellants, confined spaces, and work-at-height
  • Review and approve Work Authorization Documents and perform hazard analyses
  • Investigate and resolve compliance issues in coordination with NASA, government agencies, and project teams
  • Partner with laboratory operations to maintain compliance with federal, NASA, and state safety and occupational health standards
  • Collaborate across multiple disciplines to ensure safe and efficient operations in high-consequence environments
