Provides quality and outcome support for designated services line/center. Develops, implements, and manages clinical outcomes and oversees accreditation. Analyzes outcome trends and reports for the purpose of performance improvement, enhancement of clinical practice, utilization review, project management, and development of clinical guidelines. Collaborates with physicians, nursing, and Service Line/Center leaders to develop and maintain clinical guidelines and protocols.

Experience

  • 3 years of experience in clinical practice in sports medicine, orthopedics, pediatrics, or related field

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2 years of experience in leadership or management
  • Experience performing facilitator skills
  • Experience performing project management work
  • Experience with clinical outcomes, professional development, and research

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field

Job Responsibilities

Manages changes to clinical and operational processes resulting from evidence-based practice (EBP), clinical outcomes, industry changes and best practices

  • Uses evidence to improve and ensure quality and consistent care.
  • Analyzes data and outcomes to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Develops/implements protocols, algorithms, and treatment guidelines in collaboration with physicians and clinical leaders.
  • Establishes/monitors process to facilitate improvement.
  • Adopts national evidence-based guidelines to improve quality of care and outcomes.
  • Ensures compliance with Joint Commission standards (outpatient sites).
  • Oversees accreditation and regulatory activities in Service Line/Center.

Serves as mentor for research and evidence-based medicine initiatives.

  • Conducts proficient literature searches.
  • Appraises and synthesizes evidence to develop recommendations.
  • Educates on EBP guidelines and benefits to organization/patients.
  • Provides expertise to EBP project teams including education, training, demonstration, and guidance.
  • Provides leadership, consultation, and education in the creation of evidence-based care recommendations.
  • Ensures approval of evidence-based guidelines and plans/leads implementation and integration of evidence-based care recommendations.
  • Collaborates with appropriate departments to acquire/build/maintain electronic foundational systems to support EBP and research.
  • Demonstrates research processes and Institutional Review Board (IRB) rules.
  • Assists with navigation of research processes/research tracking for IRB application; offers feedback on writing research results.

May supervise Staff

  • Provides oversight for clinical outcomes.
  • Identifies appropriate outcome measurement tools.
  • Educates staff/leaders and oversees data collection process for outcomes.
  • Analyzes outcomes data to identify trends.
  • Recommends action to improve outcomes.
  • Participates in development/maintenance of electronic systems (e.g. Epic, REDCap, data marts) for outcomes measurement/reporting.
  • Creates and monitors outcomes data from evidence-based care recommendations.
  • Provides interpretation/packaging of data for outreach/marketing.
  • Oversees performance improvement (PI) initiatives for service line.
  • Assists with identification of PI initiatives to enhance quality and EBP.
  • Creates annual PI plan and scorecard.
  • Educates staff and leader on PI process.
  • Oversees monitoring and assists with analysis of PI initiatives.
  • Serves as resource to staff and leaders in area of PI and best practices.
  • Collaborates with quality department on PI initiatives.
  • Oversees clinical orientation program, core competencies, and specialty skills, partners with site managers for clinical education.
  • Oversees policies and procedures for sports therapy, orthopedics, and orthotics and prosthetics.
  • Serves as division liaison to organization committees as requested.

Teach

  • Quality Practice Sharing Committee.
  • Work with Medical Directors on quality and outcomes initiatives.
