Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:00pm.
Responsible for the requirements and essential job functions for the effective operation of the infection prevention and control program.
Responsibilities:
1. Promotes positive relations when interacting with patients, visitors, families, physicians, providers, customers and co-workers.
2. Conducts investigations according to department procedures to provide management of actual and potential infections.
3. Plans and completes projects and workload in timely and efficient manner by utilizing time-management and prioritization skills to ensure customer satisfaction with product and timeliness of completion.
4. Conducts and communicates findings of annual/biannual on-site visits of clinical and supporting departments according to epidemiological principles and standards of practice to ensure compliance or identify opportunities for improvement. Serves as a resource to hospital or clinic personnel regarding isolation/precaution policy.
5. Designs, plans, presents, and evaluates assigned educational activities to ensure desired objectives and outcomes are met utilizing adult learning principles.
6. Guides the implementation of evidence based practices for identified improvement opportunities related to Infection Prevention across the organization. Utilizes appropriate Performance Improvement principles. MPC & Ambulatory Surgical Center attends system-wide Infection Prevention Workgroup.
Additional NMH Essential Job Functions:
1. Conducts on-going surveillance activities by applying approved criteria to clinical data to ensure identification of healthcare associated infections.
2. Prepares epidemiology reports by utilizing epidemiological and statistical knowledge to aggregate, statistically analyze, synthesize, and interpret surveillance data to ensure accurate, concise, meaningful information.
3. Serves as resource to Health System and community by utilizing current professional journals, professional organization's guidelines/standards, regulatory agencies and accrediting agencies requirements in order to provide a quality infection control program. Assure compliance with JCAHO and OSHA standards as they relate to Infection Control.
Additional MPC & Ambulatory Surgical Center Essential Job Functions:
1. Conducts on-going surveillance activities by applying approved criteria to clinical data to ensure proper infection prevention practices are being followed.
2. Coordinates education and compliance program specific to sterilization and high level disinfection. Also, monitors infection control during construction activity.
3. Assure compliance with healthcare standards as they relate to Infection Control for both the clinics and ambulatory surgical center through consistent rounding, education (from CDC, Department of Health, WHO, etc.), and training, including just in time support.
