An opportunity has presented itself for a Qualified Locomotive Driver to join our team in Broken Hill, NSW.

What You’ll Do

Prepare, manage and operate locomotives and trains safely in accordance with competency, safe working qualifications and established Pacific National operational procedures and agreements to meet customer and operational requirements.

Reporting to the Supervisor, you will:

  • Work with key internal stakeholders to achieve a 'Delivered In-Full On-Time' (DIFOT) performance.
  • Proactively work towards and support the achievement of safety goals.
  • Undertake locomotive provisioning, preparation and pre-operational safety inspections, including checking and testing locomotive control systems and safety equipment.
  • Complete all required documentation and compliance records associated with train operations.
  • Conduct train examinations, locomotive checks and other operational tasks required to safely prepare trains for service.
  • Demonstrate an ongoing commitment to Pacific National's values of safety, accountability, integrity and teamwork.

What You’ll Bring

  • Proven experience as a qualified locomotive driver
  • Current route and safe-working qualifications highly regarded.
  • Cert IV in Train Driving (please upload during application).
  • A strong commitment to safety and compliance.
  • Experience undertaking locomotive inspections, train preparation and operational safety checks.
  • A positive and supportive attitude when working within a team environment.
  • A basic level of computer literacy.
  • A focus on customer needs and supporting continuous improvement.
  • A current unrestricted motor vehicle licence.
  • Availability and flexibility to work a 24/7 roster.
