Infrastructure Engineer

to work in East Africa.

Role
Summary


The Regional
Infrastructure Engineer is a pivotal technical role reporting to the Regional
CTO. You will be responsible for the infrastructure, projects, health, safety,
and expansion of our engineering infrastructure in your country and oversee the
infrastructure engineers in the region. This is a dynamic position requiring a
blend of high-availability environments, strategic project participation,
rigorous maintenance oversight, referral regional expert, and a "Zero
Accident" mindset.

Job
Description



Maintenance & Reliability:
Guarantee the performance of the infrastructure by executing and monitoring
both preventive and curative maintenance for the installed base.


• Installation
& Commissioning: Lead the deployment of critical infrastructure and
equipment (VCC, VAC, Cooling systems, GE) using internal resources or external
service providers, ensuring strict compliance with the "rules of the
art."


• Project
Governance: Participate in drafting tenders for infrastructure projects,
monitor execution, and produce formal infrastructure management procedures.


• Intervention
Planning: Meticulously prepare for field interventions by analysing
constraints, risks, and feasibility, while clearly explaining the technical
consequences of any changes.


• Reporting
& Analytics: Maintain high transparency through a rigorous reporting
structure, providing weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting insights
into regional operations.


• Safety
Stewardship: Enforce GVA’s "Zero Accident" policies, including PPE
usage, beaconing, locking out, and respecting safety distances relative to
LV/HV electrical systems.


• To carry out
these various tasks in his region in constant contact with his local
colleagues, In constant contact with his superiors, the technician reports
daily all information, positive or negative, enabling the proper execution of
installations and maintenance.


Roles
and Responsibilities


• Operational
Continuity: Ensure maximum uptime of power and cooling systems through
proactive maintenance, and fast reactive response to incidents.


• Compliance
Lead: Ensure all activities strictly comply with the national laws of region
and country of activities or engagement.


• Technical
Authority: Act as the regional expert for colleagues and external providers in
the region.


• Incident
Response: Maintain 24/7 availability during on-call periods for network
monitoring and critical incident handling. Ensure adequate and timely response
to all incidents with proper documentation and communication.


• Regular
Reporting: Maintain regular reports (weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual) to
the regional CTO and the group head of infrastructure. Ensure that all
operation reports are prepared and filled at all times.


Requirements


Required
Experience and Qualifications


• Education: A
minimum of a Higher National Diploma in Electrical, Electro-Mechanical
Engineering, or a related field.


• Experience:
3+ years in Electrical Infrastructure management.


• Safety:
Valid certifications in Electrical Safety (LV/HV) and Health & Safety.


Expected
skills


• Driving
license (category B or BE) + more than 3 years driving experience


• Power &
Cooling: Mastery of VCC, VAC, Cooling systems, and Generators (GE).


• Diagnostics:
Expert ability to diagnose complex failures and identify root sources of
breakdowns.


• Schematic
Literacy: Ability to read and interpret complex electrical and mechanical
schematic diagrams and have proficient use of computer-based systems.


• Basic
Networking: Foundational knowledge of IP networking to interface monitoring
tools and NOC equipment.


• Safety
Standards: Strict adherence to PPE, beaconing, and LV/HV safety protocols.



Interpersonal & Collaboration: Ability to work effectively within diverse
teams and build relationships across different regional offices.



Communication: Clearly explaining technical interventions and risks to
non-technical stakeholders.



Organization: High level of autonomy in weekly scheduling and multi-country
reporting. High level of attention to detail, a keen sense of aesthetics, high
degree of precision and technical handiness.


• Resilience:
Committed, Open-Minded, and Effectiveness during high-pressure on-call periods
and critical incidents.


• Language:
Fluent in English. Swahili and French level B2 are an added advantage.
