A mine located in Manafwa District, Eastern Uganda
seeks to engage the services of an experienced hands-on
Fabricator/Fitter
who
skilfully
creates

aligns components for welding, as

embles

and
repairs structural components from metals or various
mat
eri
a
l
s,
with
a strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics
. He will
work
with the
projects
team of
fitter
s
/fabricators
,
welders,
assistant
fabricators/fitter
s
, assistant weld
ers,
and
engineers
and the project manager

below.

Job Functions
/Key Responsibilities

The incumbent will be required among other things to:

1. 
   Interpret
   blueprints/technical drawings and schematics to determine specifications
   and fabrication requirements, aligning components for welding and adhering
   to safety regulations.
2. 
   Properly
   and safely use and operate various machine/power tools applied in
   fabrication and fitting work.
3. 
   Creating,
   assembling and repairing components and structures from various materials,
   using technical skills, machinery, and hand tools to meet precise
   specifications and quality standards.
4. 
   Measuring,
   marking, cutting, trimming, shaping and assembling materials like metal
   plastics or composites using technical skills, hand tools and power tools.
5. 
   I
   nspecting and
   testing finished products
   /structural
   components
   to
   ensure they meet quality standards and specifications, including checking
   for defects and structural integrity
   .
6. 
   Joining
   components through welding, riveting, bolting or other fastening
   techniques.
7. 
   Move heavy
   structural components, tools and equipment.
8. 
   Maintaining
   equipment and work environment, performing regular checks to ensure
   operational efficiency and safety compliance.
9. 
   Collaborating
   with engineers, project managers and team members to complete projects on
   schedule.
10. 
    Use and operate
    specialized
    equipment and power tools to
    fabricate and fit structural components.
11. 
    Maintain
    a safe work environment
    ,
    housekeeping, and
    safety on machines.

protective equipment(PPE), such as welding hoods and safety goggles.

Requirements

Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidate would
have the following attributes and qualifications.

I.
High school graduation or satisfactory equivalent supplemented by
specialized training
and previous experience
. The completion of a recognized apprenticeship or the possession of
fabrication/fitting
certifications from a
professionally recognized institution
, vocational or technical,
and an extensive
knowledge of
fabrication methods and techniques is
highly desirable.

II.

years
previous experience as a
fabricator/fitter
.

III.
Previous
experience working in
environment
s
similar to mines is
preferred.

IV.
Demonstrable
knowledge
or
acquisition of transferable skills and knowledge
of
fabrication/fitting method
s
and techniques learned
from previous positions
.

V.
Bilingual
of which English is one language spoken and written.

VI.
Person
must be physically fit to perform physically demanding work.
